Del Webb is an industry leader in the world of active adult communities.

For many, Del Webb is synonymous with the active adult lifestyle and for good reason. The developer and Yankees co-owner built the first community geared specifically towards the needs and wants of active adults—Sun City in Arizona. Since then, the company has gone on to be an industry leader, constantly innovating to meet the needs of new generations of 55+ homebuyers.

As the company that, in a sense, pioneered the idea of building communities with amenities in mind, Del Webb has taken this philosophy into a new era with communities that are more akin to resorts than they are standard neighborhoods. Clubhouses are a key feature of Del Webb communities, though the term hardly seems appropriate for the sprawling, resort-like amenity centers Del Webb communities are known for.

This year, we’re rounding up the best-selling Del Webb communities of 2019 and taking a deeper dive into what makes them unique. While all Del Webb communities are highly sought after by 55+ homebuyers, here are ones that rose above the rest and generated a lot of home sales through 55places.com

1. Del Webb Ponte Vedra

Mid $200s – Low $600s

At the top of our list sits Del Webb Ponte Vedra, part of the larger Nocatee master-planned community near Jacksonville, Florida. This nearly 2,000-home community has attracted loads of interest this year, in no small part due to its award-winning lineup of amenities.

Near the center of the community is the truly remarkable 37,800-square-foot Anastasia Club. Residents come here not only for the state-of-the-art fitness center complete with saunas and steam rooms but also for community gatherings. A library, game rooms, and art studios are dwarfed by the massive Royal Palm ballroom and stage. Outdoors, there are 15 acres of outdoor amenities including miles of trails linking the six other villages that comprise this master-planned community.

Just under 50 floor plans are available in everything from condos to luxurious single-family homes. The community even has its own town center geared towards shopping and dining. Getting around the region is easy too, due to its convenient proximity to I-95.

2. Del Webb Lake Providence

Mid $200s – High $500s

For our next entry, we move north to Tennesee for the second most popular Del Webb community of the year. The Nashville real estate market is one of the hottest in the nation and, when you really drill down on it, it’s no surprise that Music City USA and the surrounding region attract homebuyers from all over the country.

Del Webb Lake Providence, located just minutes outside of the Nashville metro area, is one of the most sought-after active adult communities in the state. A classically styled clubhouse, known simply as The Club, serves as a hub of the community, and it offers the sort of amenities homebuyers expect from Del Webb. Pleasant four-season weather makes it easy to enjoy the outdoor amenities in this community, which feature everything from courts for tennis and bocce to a 15-acre fishing lake. Home styles range from cozy townhomes to generous single-family homes, all recently built and representing an exceptional value for the area.

3. Del Webb at Cane Bay

Low $200s – Low $400s

From one hot market to another, we turn our attention to South Carolina and the trendy Charleston area. Del Webb at Cane Bay is located in Summerville, about 20 minutes north of Charleston itself. This recently completed community has just 1,000 single-family homes, making it among the most exclusive on this year’s list.

However, a smaller number of homes doesn’t mean the community is lacking amenities. A 20,000-square-foot, resort-style clubhouse boasts the range of amenities that has made Del Webb a leader in the active adult world for generations. Also, Charleston’s beautiful historic district is just a short drive from the community, making it easy for residents to enjoy not only the rich history of this region but also the world-class dining options that are the subject of countless TV shows and magazine articles.

4. Del Webb Charleston at Nexton

Mid $200s – High $500s

If you’re looking to get in on the ground floor of a 55+ community in the Charleston area, then look no further than Del Webb Charleston at Nexton. This new active adult community is just a few miles down the road from our previous entry, which speaks to the popularity of the region in general.

New single-family homes range in size from 1,355 to 3,452 square feet, and they’re available in ten floorplans with inviting and open designs for entertaining. A grand, 25,000-square-foot clubhouse is in the works, and outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the 20,000 acres of greenspace and preserved natural beauty.

5. Del Webb at Mirehaven

High $200s – Low $400s

In our number five spot, we head clear across the country to New Mexico for Del Webb at Mirehaven. Located in the visually stunning hills of Albuquerque, this community is definitely a departure from our previous entries on this list; it’s an ideal place for those who seek the sparse, desert beauty of the southwest.

The amenity center greets visitors with architecture that blends artfully into the natural surroundings and offers prime views of the mountains. If this sounds appealing to you, check out the photos we have on our community page as words alone cannot do the landscape justice. Single-family homes are still being built at Del Webb at Mirehaven, giving interested homebuyers the opportunity to customize interior finishes on a new home.

6. Del Webb Orlando

Low $200s – High $300s

Turning back to Florida, we find ourselves in the Orlando-Kissimmee area at Del Webb Orlando, arguably the builder’s flagship in the desirable Central Florida region. Del Webb broke ground in 2007, and it has continued to add to this community with plans to build 830 single-family homes. A total of 23 floor plans are available in everything from right-sized to have-the-whole-family over.

Surrounded by a scenic lake, the 30,800-square-foot Montecito Clubhouse is certainly the crown jewel of this community, and the amenities on offer are more in line with a resort than a neighborhood. Just outside the gates, there’s a membership-optional par-72 golf course. Also, the area is, of course, renowned for its theme parks. Whether you’re with the grandkids or enjoying an adult-only adventure, they’re all easy to get to, usually within a 30-minute drive.

7. Del Webb Lakewood Ranch

Low $300s – Low $500s

Checking in at number seven, we find Del Webb Lakewood Ranch. Located in Southwest Florida in the Bradenton-Sarasota area, this new Del Webb community will have 1,300 attached and single-family homes upon completion.

While all Del Webb communities offer their residents outstanding aquatic options, Del Webb Lakewood Ranch really takes it up a notch with their resort-style outdoor pool and patio. Throughout the clubhouse, modern elegance is the dominant design theme. Also, shopping and dining options in Bradenton are about 20 minutes away, while the lovely white sand beaches of Longboat Key are less than 25 miles away.

8. Del Webb Chateau Elan

Low $300s – Mid $400s

If having the cultural amenities of a major urban center is more of a “must” than a “want,” then be sure to check out number eight on our list. Del Webb Chateau Elan is located in Braselton, Georgia, less than an hour northeast of the Atlanta metro area. Del Webb started construction on the community just last year, making this one of the newest communities on our list.

The community’s prime location makes it just as easy to enjoy the trendy boutiques and fine dining of the Buckhead area of Atlanta as it is to take the boat out on Lake Lanier just 20 minutes away. Better still, the community’s namesake is the charming Chateau Elan Winery & Resort, which offers both social and golf memberships.

9. Del Webb Bexley

Mid $200s – Low $400s

Rounding out our list is Land O’Lakes’ own Del Webb Bexley. Much like Del Webb Chateau Elan, Del Webb Bexley began construction in 2018 and, as such, is another excellent option for homebuyers looking to customize their new home in the Tampa Area.

Speaking of homes, plans call for 850 single-family homes in a variety of floor plans, so homebuyers can find a home with the features they want at a price they can afford. The Tampa metro area and airport are both under a half-hour away, ensuring big city amenities are close enough but not so close as to spoil the tranquility and natural beauty of Del Webb Bexley.
