Burlington County is the largest county in New Jersey, and active adults can get a lot of bang for their buck.

As the largest county in New Jersey, Burlington County covers a large chunk of Southern New Jersey—a total of 827 square miles and 524,160 acres. This area is a study in contrasts, with immense forested areas like Wharton State Forest, an intricate system of roads and highways, large shopping complexes, wineries, farmers markets, and top-notch golf courses like Medford Country Club.

Active adults can find homes for sale in Burlington County starting below $100k and going up into the high $500s. Prices depend on factors like when the retirement community was built, home size, community amenities, and of course, location. The county is shaped like a wedge, with the wider, northern part butting up to the Delaware River from Philadelphia to Trenton. Its southernmost point ends at the Mullica River, and from here, it flows into the Atlantic Ocean, so heading to beach towns like Brigantine and Beach Haven is a favorite pastime of Burlco residents.

55places.com profiles 21 retirement communities in Burlington, and here are some that hover around the $250,000 price range.
