    North Las Vegas, located in the Southern Nevada area, is famous for its casinos, malls, and entertainment attractions. The sunny weather makes it an attractive location for active adults, as well as its inviting community where residents can always find something to do. 

    Climate and Geography

    North Las Vegas is a popular city in the Mojave Desert. Summers are hot and humid, and temperatures during the winter rarely reach freezing. Residents of this desert city can expect to see less rain than the U.S average and about 300 sunny days a year. 

    Being that the city is located in the desert, residents have the opportunity to explore different types of land surrounding it, such as mountains, canyons, and desert valleys, with only a few small bodies of water. 

    Recreation, Culture, & Entertainment

    North Las Vegas is known for its friendly atmosphere. The city is famous for having plenty of casinos for residents to explore, including Aliante Station Casino, Big Horn, and Park MGM Casino. Also, North Las Vegas has a variety of malls, outlets, and restaurants in the downtown area.

    North Las Vegas is home to the most popular SeaQuest Interactive Aquarium, as well as many museums, art galleries, and a planetarium accessible for all residents. 

    Residents looking to get outside the city can explore the many forests preserves and state parks, as well as the desert valleys and mountains around the city. Some of these include, Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, Craig Ranch Regional Park, and Springs Reserve. 

    Cost of Living & Taxes

    The cost of living in North Las Vegas is slightly higher than the national average, but less pricey than the state average. Most of what contributes to this is the cost for housing and transportation, which is higher than the national averages. 

    Nevada is one of the most tax friendly states in the nation. The state has no income tax, estate tax or tax on Social Security, which means more savings for active adults. The city of North Las Vegas does add a 3.65 percent sales tax onto the state’s 4.6 percent rate. 

    Health Care 

    The city of North Las Vegas is home to plenty of medical centers and hospitals including North Vista Hospital, Mike O’Callaghan Federal Hospital, and Horizon Specialty Hospital. 

    Just outside the city, residents are in proximity to some of the best hospitals in Las Vegas, such as St. Rose Dominican Hospital, which was rated the No. 1 hospital in the state, and high performing in four procedures by U.S News. There is also Desert Springs Hospital Center, which was rated high performing in one procedure.
