    Mint Hill is a suburban town in Mecklenburg and Union counties in North Carolina. Located just outside of Charlotte, the town offers a quiet, residential environment still within reach of a major city. Retirees that are seeking year-round moderate weather to enjoy outdoor activities and leisure are sure to appreciate Mint Hill. 

    Climate & Geography

    Mint Hill has a humid subtropical climate, which means summers are hot and humid, while winters are generally mild with very little snowfall. The average precipitation is roughly 40 inches of rainfall and the town receives about 205 sunny days throughout each year. 

    Mint Hill is best known for being a suburb in the southeast of the Charlotte metro area. The surrounding terrain is primarily flat with forest and small rivers scattered throughout. Lake Wylie is located to the west and Lake Norman is located towards the northwest of the town. The Uwharrie National Forest is located towards the northeast of the city. 

    Recreation, Culture, & Entertainment 

    Mint Hill is a quaint town that offers plenty of relaxing recreational activities for its residents. Active adults frequently take a stroll and bike ride through the parks, or catch a movie at one of the theaters in town. Local shopping ranges from farmers markets to fashion malls.

    Cost of Living & Taxes 

    Although North Carolina generally has a lower cost of living than the U.S. average, Mint Hill is just above the average. This is primarily due to the high cost of homes and housing, however the cost of groceries and utilities are below the national index.

Property taxes are relatively low, and some residents may qualify for a homestead exemption based on age and income to help offset those costs.
