Bluffton is a small town in Beaufort County, South Carolina that overlooks the May River. Bluffton is less than 10 miles away from Hilton Head Island and is apart of South Carolina’s lowcountry. The close beaches and rich history contribute to Bluffton being considered one of the best suburbs to live in throughout South Carolina. Locals refer to Bluffton as “the last true coastal village of the South.”
Climate & Geography
Bluffton was once mostly wetlands and water is still a very big part of the town today. Found on the southwest end of Bluffton is the New River and the May River flows through the center of town. As a result of the lowcountry region, marshlands and cordgrass can be found throughout Bluffton, only adding to its charm.
Bluffton has a humid, subtropical climate with mild winters, hot, humid summers and rainfall throughout the year.

For those who are interested in being in nature, Bluffton has multiple parks, active trails like the New River Linear Trail and many others, golfing communities, the option to fish and boat from the Calhoun Street Dock, and six facilities that offer activities through the Beaufort County Parks and Leisure Services. There are also multiple art galleries around town and the Bluffton Farmers Market is held every Thursday.

The Coastal Carolina Hospital and Hilton Head Hospital are located within 12 miles of Bluffton. The Hilton Head Hospital is considered high performing in knee replacements and treating cases of heart failure.
