They’re all just a few hours away from most 55+ communities in the area.  Northern California also offers a staggering amount of notable restaurants, entertainment venues, shopping destinations, and gorgeous state and national parks.

Sun City Lincoln Hills — Lincoln, CA

Low $300s – Mid $1Ms

Popular homebuilder Del Webb built Sun City Lincoln Hills from 1999 to 2008, and it’s been a top-selling 55+ community ever since. With 6,783 attached and single-family homes, this sprawling community is chock-full of thoughtfully constructed homes, fun-filled activities, resort-like amenities, and impressively designed landscaping.

Nestled northeast of Sacramento in the idyllic suburban city of Lincoln, Sun City Lincoln Hills lures Boomers with amenities such as a 68,000-square-foot recreational center, an indoor pool, two outdoor pools, an indoor walking track, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and a 15,000 square-foot ballroom with a stage.

The community also offers a smaller lodge with an additional pool and fitness room, as well as a 36-hole golf course, a full-service spa, and 27 miles of walking and biking trails. There’s also an onsite restaurant and bar for residents and their guests to enjoy, and the community employs a full-time activities director to keep social calendars full of fun activities and active clubs.

With over 40 floor plans, Sun City Lincoln Hills homes range in size from 901 to 3,068 square feet. Homebuyers can choose resale attached or single-family homes that offer one to four bedrooms, one to three-and-a-half bathrooms, and a one- to three-car garage.

Rossmoor — Walnut Creek, CA

Mid $300s – Mid $1Ms

Nationally recognized 55+ community Rossmoor offers an abundance of home styles and amenities to homebuyers, who’ve been purchasing homes here since 1963. Since then, the award-winning active adult community has been upgraded and expanded, with 6,678 attached, condominium, and single-family homes.

Set in the much-sought-after Bay Area suburb city of Walnut Creek, Rossmoor offers residents a peaceful location among rolling hills yet close proximity to vibrant shopping and dining centers. With plenty of onsite recreational amenities such as multiple swimming pools, tennis courts, and clubhouses, as well as 27 holes of NCGA-rated golf, a 150-seat theater, over 200 social clubs and its own weekly newspaper, Rossmoor delights residents with endless recreation and activities.

Sun City Roseville — Roseville, CA

In the Sacramento suburb of RosevilleSun City Roseville is another beautifully designed 55+ community built by Del Webb. This 55+ community was built from 1995 to 2000 and includes 3,110 single-family homes.

This large and beautifully landscaped community offers amenities and social activities galore, featuring a 52,000-square-foot Timber Creek Recreation Lodge that houses an indoor lap pool, a state-of-the-art fitness center, an aerobics room, a grand ballroom with a stage, billiards rooms, and more. Inside the lodge, residents also enjoy access to arts and crafts, ceramics, and sewing studios.

Outdoors, residents work on their swing at the golf practice facilities or perfect their free stroke in the sparkling outdoor pool. There are miles of walking and biking trails throughout the community, and dozens of active clubs to participate in. The onsite Timbers Restaurant offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Trilogy at Rio Vista — Rio Vista, CA

Construction began at Trilogy in 1996, and developers are still improving upon this gated 55+ community nestled in the peaceful, rolling hills of the East Bay Area.

Outdoors, residents enjoy an outdoor pool, spa, and patio with barbecue areas. There’s an 18-hole golf course on-site, as well as a cafe and restaurants for community members and guests to enjoy.

With 3,000 single-family homes, Trilogy at Rio Vista offers resale homebuyers a large variety of floor plans and home sizes to choose from. Square footage ranges from 976 to 2,507 square feet with two or three bedrooms, two to three-and-a-half baths, two- or three-car garages, and many homes boast oversized lots with impressive views.
