Climate & Geography
Riverview has a humid subtropical climate that can be divided into two seasons: hot, long, and wet summers and short, dry, and mild winters. The area experiences more rainfall than average, no snow, and 248 days of sun.
Tampa Bay is located just west of Riverview, and the northern border is defined by the Alafia River. Much of the terrain is flat and low-lying, typical of the Gulf Coast.
Recreation, Culture, & Entertainment
Riverview offers plenty of outdoor recreation for residents. The Alafia Scrub Nature Preserve and the Bella Creek Nature Preserve have hiking and walking trails and small fishing opportunities. Larger fish, like bass and catfish, can be found at Alafia River State Park. In addition, the Summerfield Crossings Golf Club is active year-round.
There are some larger chains in Riverview for shopping, but much more high-end, boutique, and designer shops can be found in nearby Tampa. Just a half-hour away, Tampa offers residents the Tampa Riverwalk and Ybor Village, some of the most popular entertainment and cultural destinations in the area.

Riverview’s cost of living is just above the national average. Transportation, housing, and groceries are all above average, while groceries and health care are below.

There are no hospitals in Riverview, but Brandon Regional Hospital in Brandon and South Bay Hospital in Sun City Center are rated high performing by U.S. News. Tampa General Hospital and H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute in Tampa are both nationally ranked.
