    Spring Hill is a popular coastal city in Florida, located north of the Tampa Bay area. Its excellent location and desirable weather has made it a favorite option for retirees, which is why there is a large active adult population.     Climate & Geography

    Spring Hill is located in southwestern Hernando County just north of Tampa Bay. Residents living here can expect weather ranging between the mid 60s and 70s all year long, with hot sunny summers and mild winters. The city of Spring Hill also experiences large amounts of rainfall, ranking slightly over the U.S average. 

    Much like other cities in Florida, Spring Hill has plenty of nature to explore. This space often fosters big parks and golf courses available to all its residents.

    Spring Hill is home to a large retired population which makes it an easy transition for fresh retirees looking for a new home. The abundance of beaches, such as Sunset Beach, Clearwater Beach, and Indian Rocks Beach, allow for plenty of outdoor activities, including beach bars.

Living in Spring Hill gives residents the opportunity for a variety of outdoor adventure, such as paddleboarding, kayaking, and manatee tours, Not to mention, Congo River Golf, where retirees can kick back on the putting green. 

    Cost of Living & Taxes

    Spring Hill’s cost of living is not that much higher than the U.S average, and cheaper than the average of the state as a whole, making it a more affordable option on the Sunshine State. The median home cost and cost of housing is lower than the state average but slightly higher than national averages. Other categories, such as the cost of groceries, are cheaper when compared nationwide, while other costs like transportation and utilities remain more pricey. 

    Florida is known as one of the most tax-friendly states in the country, with a statewide sales tax of 6 percent. There are also several tax breaks for residents 65 and older, specifically for homeowners.

    There are three accredited hospitals in the Spring Hill area. These are Bayfront Health Spring Hill Hospital, Oak Hill Hospital, and the newest, Bayfront Health Brooksville Hospital. Out of these three, Oak Hill Hospital is rated high performing by U.S. News in treating pulmonary disease.
