What makes your active adult community the best in the country? We wanted to know, so we asked active adults all over the country to tell us why they love their 55+ community –– and as an added incentive, one of the respondents won a brand new tablet!
The responses showed just how passionate retirees are about finding communities where they can make friends and be amongst like-minded people. Many people also expressed that they were drawn to their community by the amenities, from the clubhouses to pools and more.
“The homes are just the right size and the clubhouse offers shows, every activity that you could possibly want, and a health and fitness center to keep you healthy,” says Nan M., a homebuyer who has set her sights on Coral Lakes in Boynton Beach, Florida.
Florida communities received a lot of love from residents during our sweepstakes, such as Stone Creek in Ocala.
“Being in the middle of the state we have access to both the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico within a one hour drive,” says Norm F., a resident of Del Webb’s Stone Creek. “The resort-style amenities are meticulously maintained and with the 50+ clubs, making new friends has not been a problem.”
But it’s not just Florida providing a paradise for active adults. Many New Jersey retirees had great things to say about life in their communities.
“There is something to do for anyone –– golf, indoor and outdoor pools, exercise room, card rooms, and plenty of shows performed by local musicians and big name entertainment for a very reasonable price,” says Helene Goretsky, a proud resident of Renaissance at Manchester.
Another state you may not think of for retirement is Illinois, but retirees here have found many reasons to brave the not-so-pleasant winters. Dino M. is confident in his decision to retire at Sun City Huntley.
“Sun City Huntley offers terrific facilities in a four-season environment so we can stay close to our grandchildren. So much to do and so little time to do it in.”
But if you’re seeking a warm-weather retirement destination, look no further than sunny Southern California. Wondering if California life is as great as everyone says it is? Just ask Sun City Palm Desert resident B.J. L..
“I live in paradise… We have over 100 clubs for everything, and for people who need help, we have a club called Neighbors for Neighbors where people volunteer their time to help someone who may need a light bulb changed or an item taken care of.”
After running our Community Pride Sweepstakes, it is more evident than ever to us at 55places.com that active adult communities are a nurturing and an exciting place to be.
