5 Things to Do in Land O’Lakes, Florida

With the announcement that Del Webb Bexley is currently under construction, Land O’Lakes has its 55+ crown jewel. Del Webb Bexley will be the first 55+ community the popular developer, Del Webb, will build in the Tampa Bay area since the 1960s. Active adults can expect modern homes, resort-style amenities, and a lifestyle to suit their needs.

Active adults who aren’t sure if they’d prefer to live in a tranquil, natural setting or a dynamic city environment don’t have to make that choice when they move to Land O’Lakes, Florida. The census-designated place is quiet—tucked away into the northwest corner of the Tampa Bay area. Land O’Lakes is part of Pasco County, known for its great schools and suburban splendors. However, it’s also within half an hour of Tampa, where there’s plenty of nightlife, professional sports, theater, and museums.

Set a Tee Time for Golf

Two premiere golf courses are in Land O’Lakes. You’ll enjoy playing at Plantation Palms Golf Club, where 18 holes of championship golf are on a course designed by David Harman. After your game, enjoy a pint or some lunch at Mulligan’s Irish Pub. At The Groves Golf & Country Club, you’ll play surrounded by wetlands and natural habitats. You may watch one of Florida’s sandhill cranes stroll by or wait for an alligator to make its way out of the water before you sink a putt. The Groves was designed by Hall of Fame inductee Gary Koch, who put the course together with environmental preservation in mind.

Visit Local Wineries and Breweries

At the Land O’Lakes Winery, visitors can spend a Saturday tasting up to four new wines, and they can even make their own. The staff will guide you through the process of making wine, and then you get to take home what you create. Join the wine club, and check the schedule for special events. In the Loop Brewing is a lot of fun if you love beer and food. Visit the tasting room and the beer garden for the latest local creations.

Ride like the Wind in a Hot Air Balloon

If you’re looking for a romantic way to say good morning, book a flight with American Balloon. This local Land O’Lakes company provides hot air balloon rides to couples and groups of up to ten people. Spend an hour in the air just before dawn watching the sunrise. American Balloon offers champagne brunches and can cater for special events like birthdays and anniversaries. You’ll enjoy your view of Land O’Lakes and the Tampa area from 3,000 feet above the ground.

Natural Parks and Native Hikes

Land O’Lakes provides a lot of opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts. If you’re interested in a hike, try Conner Preserve or Lake Park. Both of these parks provide trails for biking and walking, and there are excellent birding and wildlife opportunities. It’s not uncommon to see osprey nests or watch a gopher tortoise make its way towards one of the large holes they dig in the soft Florida sand. At Lake Park, visitors can rent canoes, and there are equestrian paths at Conner Preserve.

Outlet Shopping at Tampa Premium Outlets

It’s always fun to find a deal, and at the Tampa Premium Outlets, shoppers can save money on top brands in clothing, footwear, accessories, and sporting goods. In addition to more than 100 stores, you’ll also find restaurants, a food court, and a children’s play area. It’s easy to reach by car, right off Interstate 75 with plenty of parking. You can also take the bus using Hillsborough County’s HART transit system or Pasco County’s County Connector.
