Some great Tampa homes for sale can be found for around $250,000, and buyers will have even more options if they’re willing to extend their search out to suburban areas north and west of the city. At that price range, you can find Tampa real estate on a golf course, with a water view, or in a neighborhood full of amenities.

Valencia LakesWimauma, FL

Low $200s – Mid $600s

Active adults can choose a new construction or resale home at Valencia Lakes in Wimauma, which is just south of Tampa. For $250,000, buyers interested in this 55+ community can choose a two- or three-bedroom home with two bathrooms and an attached two-car garage. There are single-family homes and attached villas that offer low-maintenance living and open floor plans with 1,321 to 2,175 square feet.

Valencia Lakes has a clubhouse with a fitness center, steam rooms, and a sauna. Residents stay active by using the pools, tennis courts, pickleball courts, shuffleboard courts, and horseshoe pits. There’s even a softball field and a half-court for basketball. A community garden allows homeowners to grow their own veggies and flowers. There’s also a restaurant and an internet cafe. Wimauma is close to Apollo Beach as well as Sun City Center, and it’s located right off Interstate 75.

Heritage PinesHudson, FL

High $100s – High $200s

Head north out of Tampa and west towards the Gulf of Mexico to find Heritage Pines, a 55+ community with single-family homes for sale as well as luxury attached villas that fall into the $250,000 price range. This neighborhood is big on community; there are dozens of clubs and social activities for residents to enjoy, such as the garden club, travel club, and pet lovers club. An 18-hole championship golf course is part of the Heritage Pines lifestyle. There’s also tennis and bocce ball courts as well as a pool with a spa.

Single-family homes come in more than 25 models, ranging from 1,353 to 3,548 square feet. They have two to four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and attached two- or three-car garages. Many have dens and dedicated outdoor space. The attached villas are two-bedroom, two-bathroom models with 1,297 to 1,629 square feet and attached two-car garages.

Town Shores of GulfportGulfport, FL

Below $100k – Mid $400s

Buyers who want to explore Gulfport real estate on the water might consider Town Shores of Gulfport. This 55+ community is made up completely of condos, but they’re spacious and right on the water. Residents can enjoy a kayak launch, a boat marina, and four pools that provide generous views and extreme relaxation. There’s also an exercise room and a game room in the clubhouse as well as shuffleboard, pickleball, tennis, and bocce courts.

Condos have one, two, or three bedrooms with one to three bathrooms and 815 to 2,210 square feet. Many of them have huge windows so residents can enjoy the views, and most properties have been upgraded to include hurricane-resistant shutters and solar blinds. Gulfport is an artsy and communal seaside town with some kind of festival happening downtown nearly every weekend. There’s almost always live music in one of the local bars alongside some great handmade ice cream shops.

The Groves Golf and Country ClubLand O’Lakes, FL

Mid $100s – High $200s

Country club golf course living in Tampa is available at The Groves Golf and Country Club just north of the city in suburban Land O’Lakes. In addition to the 18-hole golf course, there’s an aquatic driving range, a putting green, and a pro shop. Residents enjoy dining at Vesh Restaurant and enjoying activities, shows, and events at the Civic Center Clubhouse. There’s pickleball, tennis, and a pool on the well-landscaped grounds of this 55+ community.

Homes are well within budget and can be purchased on a resale basis. Attached villas are maintenance-free with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, an attached two-car garage, and 1,034 to 1,438 square feet. Larger single-family homes are also available with 1,509 to 2,552 square feet and up to four bedrooms. Land O’Lakes is scenic and quiet; close to both wilderness areas and nature parks as well as the activity of Downtown Tampa.

Sun City CenterSun City Center, FL

Below $100k – Mid $500s

Sun City Center is the Tampa area’s largest and most established 55+ community. It’s over 9,000 homes offer a great variety for buyers of all varieties, whether you want to downsize or expand, there’s likely a floor plan and price in this community.

Sun City Center is one of a handful of 55+ communities in the U.S. that operate as more of a town than just a neighborhood. Homeowners prefer to travel on golf cart to get to golf courses, saunas, art studios, theaters, and more. The community also has transit for travel offsite.

Throughout the years many different builders and floor plans have been built in the community. These range from attached and single-family homes under 1,000 square feet in size to larger homes with several bedrooms and baths.
