Whether one plays the sport often or is wanting to play more, having a pickleball court or two right inside one’s own community is certainly convenient and fun to take advantage of. Take a look at the six largest and best-selling Southern California 55+ communities offering pickleball courts as a featured amenity.

Laguna Woods VillageLaguna Woods, CA

Mid $100s – Mid $1Ms

The largest 55+ active adult community on the West Coast, Laguna Woods Village offers up a delightful assortment of resort-style amenities, including over five indoor and outdoor pickleball courts. This sprawling gated community also boasts seven clubhouses, 36 holes of golf, an equestrian center, five swimming pools, an 814-seat performing arts center, and over 250 clubs and organizations.

Built from 1964 to 1985 and set on 2,100 acres, this 55+ community offers single-family, attached, and condo-style resale homes with 94 floor plans ranging from 675 square-feet condos to 2,600 square-feet single-family homes. With 24-hour patrols and a private bus system as well as an enviable Orange County location only 10 minutes from the beach, Laguna Woods Village is a 55+ community that is understandably popular among active adults.

Four Seasons at BeaumontBeaumont, CA

Mid $200s – High $400s

Active adults looking for new construction homes and resort-style amenities will want to check out the newly built Four Seasons at Beaumont. This 55+ community is perched up high at an elevation of 2,400 feet, offering gorgeous views and fun amenities like two pickleball courts as well as basketball, tennis, and bocce ball courts. Other amenities include two recreation centers, multiple hobby and craft studios, a grand ballroom, card room, theater, library, private restaurant, large outdoor sports complex, fitness center, spa, and a computer center as well as numerous community clubs.

Construction at Four Seasons at Beaumont began in 2005 and continues today. There are 1,923 single-family and attached new and resale homes in this community, ranging from 1,183 to 2,775 square feet and offering two to four bedrooms and two to three bathrooms.

Sun City Shadow HillsIndio, CA

Located in Coachella Valley’s Indio, Sun City Shadow Hills is an idyllic 55+ California community with an impressive list of amenities and lifestyle activities. Aside from three well-maintained pickleball courts, the community offers a 35,000-square-foot clubhouse with a fitness center and dance studio, an 18-hole golf course, four tennis courts, nearby hiking and biking trails, grand ballroom, arts and crafts studio, bistro, and indoor lap pool, among other amenities.

Sun City Shadow Hills is comprised of 3,400 single-family resale homes built between 2003 and 2016. These ranch-style homes have 1,099 to nearly 3,000 square feet, with two to three bedrooms and two to three-and-a-half bathrooms. Most homes boast upgraded finishes and rear patios.

Sun Lakes Country ClubBanning, CA

A popular and affordable 55+ community, Sun Lakes Country Club offers residents plenty of recreational opportunities, including three pickleball courts. Residents also enjoy tennis and bocce ball courts, a fitness center, and three large clubhouses. There’s also a pool, patio, two private golf courses, and an arts and crafts studio, among other amenities.

The homes in this community offer 50 floor plans in single-family and condo styles, many with stunning views of the golf courses and nearby mountains. Home sizes range from 850 to 2,627 square feet with two to four bedrooms, two to three bathrooms, and a two- to three-car garage.

Trilogy® at The Polo ClubIndio, CA

Low $300s – Low $700s

As the only non-age-restricted community on this list, Trilogy at The Polo Club allows residents of all ages to enjoy group activities, including playing pickleball together on its three pickleball courts. Residents will also love gathering together at the community’s three tennis courts and three outdoor pools. Homeowners can also keep fit and active indoors, utilizing the 25,000-square-foot Polo Club with a fitness center and yoga studio. Residents of all ages enjoy the charming on-site pond, paved walking trails, and an on-site restaurant as well.

Construction began at Trilogy at The Polo Club in 2013, and once finished, this community will have 1000 single-family homes ranging from 1,376 to 2,549 square feet. These beautiful, new homes will offer two to three bedrooms, two to two-and-a-half bathrooms, and an attached two- to three-car garage.

Four Seasons at HemetHemet, CA

With four pickleball courts and a host of other resort-style amenities, Four Seasons at Hemet offers affordable luxury as well as plenty of conveniences and clubs to keep residents active and social. This upscale 55+ community offers a long line-up of amenities, including a sprawling 14,859-square-foot clubhouse with a fitness center, a ballroom, a cafe, a billiards room, and a salon. Residents also enjoy a movie theater, outdoor pool, golf club, and tennis and bocce ball courts.

Built between 2003 and 2011, Four Seasons at Hemet includes 1,106 single-family homes with views of the surrounding San Jacinto Mountains. Resale single-family homes range from 1,444 to 2,800 square feet with two-car garages and 12 floor plans to choose from.
