    Located in Central Texas, just northwest of Austin, Lakeway is a small city that offers retirees many unique entertainment options, sunny weather, and a scenic landscape.

    Lakeway is situated in a transitional zone between the deserts of the American southwest and the humid, lush areas of the southeast. The region is officially designated as having a humid subtropical climate, which means summers and long and hot, while winters are short and mild with almost no snowfall. Lakeway receives less rainfall than the national average and approximately 230 days of sunshine each year.

    The northwest edge of Lakeway is bordered by the Colorado River. There are woodlands and steeply sloped acres throughout the city.

    Lakeway offers residents a diverse selection of recreation and entertainment opportunities. Active adults can relax, hike, or just enjoy spending time outdoors at one of the five city parks or four trails throughout the city. At Lake Travis, guests can treat themselves to a spa day, golfing, boating, and more.

    For a unique movie-watching experience, Lakeway City Park hosts Movies Under the Stars which offers free, family-friendly movies in the evening. Rain or shine, Sundays can be spent exploring the Lone Star Farmers Market where more than 40 vendors come together to provide locally grown produce and artisan foods available to purchase. At the Austin Salt Cave, retirees can treat themselves to a spa treatment, or relax in a hot tub between artificial walls of mined salt. 

    For more recreation and entertainment, Lakeway is located about 40 minutes from Austin, two hours from San Antonio, and three hours from Houston, providing great opportunities for day trips or weekend getaways.
