    The cost of living in Round Rock is higher than the national average. This is due to the housing cost, which is significantly higher than both state and national averages. Utilities and transportation are higher than the national average, but the cost for groceries is lower. 

    Texas is a tax-friendly state. There is no tax on Social Security or income tax, and the state offers a homestead exemption for all homeowners. Retirement income remains untaxed as well. 

    The sales tax in Texas is 6.25 percent and Round Rock adds a 2 percent tax onto that rate.

    There are four hospitals and medical centers in Round Rock. They are Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Round Rock, St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center, Baylor Scott and White Medical Center-Round Rock (ranked high performing in two procedures by U.S. News), and Ascension Seton Williamson.
