Vail and southeast Tucson are growing quickly and offer some exciting newer 55+ options. It can be a great fit for someone who wants new construction, modern floor plans and the opportunity to become part of a community while it is still growing and developing. Sahuarita and Green Valley have a very established retirement presence. This area can be a fantastic fit for someone whose priorities include activities, clubs, recreation and a strong sense of community. There is also a wide variety of housing styles and price points. Tucson itself gives buyers another completely different option. Not everyone wants a large traditional active adult community. Some buyers would rather have a smaller 55+ neighborhood, townhome or condo while staying closer to restaurants, medical facilities, the University of Arizona, arts and entertainment. To the north, the Prescott highlands trade big-metro convenience for higher elevation and cooler summers. Prescott-area realtor Teresa Lohmeier says, "It can be busy and slow. The downtown history and square is often a weekend tourist attraction with seasonal events, art booths and fun live music. During the week locals and wise travelers get to enjoy the casual pace, great weather, and entertainment. For outdoor enthusiasts, there is hiking, biking, camping, free parking on Wednesdays, and hardly anyone else out there with you in whatever direction you want to go. It’s a growing city with a small town charm, the people are kind and the lifestyle is simple. It’s definitely my favorite spot in Arizona."
