At these active lifestyle communities in Florida, you can live just steps away from the beach.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Florida enjoys 8,436 miles of coastline along the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean, and 76 percent of the state lives in coastal areas. If you’re going to live in Florida, why not live near the water?

In the active adult communities we’re exploring today, residents enjoy more than just proximity to sandy shores; they live right on the water. It doesn’t have to be expensive, and it doesn’t have to be full-time. Many of these communities and homes are ideal for part-time residents, fondly called snowbirds by Florida’s full-time residents.

Buyers interested in Florida homes for sale right on the beach might want to take a closer look at these inviting communities.

Century PlazaPompano Beach, FL

Low $300s – Mid $500s

At Century Plaza, beachfront living is low-maintenance and pleasant, with the meditative waves of the Atlantic Ocean right outside your front door. Pompano Beach is part of Southeast Florida’s Broward County, and it’s close to Interstate 95, making the area easily accessible from larger cities like Fort Lauderdale and Miami.

Buyers interested in this 55+ community on the water will find two attached, mid-rise buildings with elevators and security. There are 187 condo homes with 1,000 to 1,500 square feet, one to three bedrooms, and one or two bathrooms. There’s also plenty of covered parking as well as balconies with ocean views.

Homeowners can step right out of their building and onto the sandy beach. The outdoor pool offers an alternative to saltwater swimming, and there’s a sunny patio with plenty of shaded seating. Additional amenities include a clubhouse and lounge, a fitness center, a library, and a multipurpose room with a catering kitchen. Card games, fitness classes, and community parties are frequently held, and Pompano Beach offers a lot of activities both on and off the beach, such as the Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse.
