Long Island lies in a transition zone between a humid subtropical and humid continental climate. As a result Copiague’s climate varies greatly throughout the year, though typically summers are hot and humid while winters are cold with mixed precipitation. The hamlet is situated within the town of Babylon, along the coast of Great South Bay which lies to the south. The area is mostly rural and the southern portion of Copiague is divided into three peninsulas: Amity Harbor, Copiague Harbor, and American Venice.
