Lakewood Ranch is a popular destination for active adults in Florida. With an ideal location near the Gulf Shore in the central part of the state, it is not surprising so many people seek to purchase a primary or secondary home in this region.
While selecting a vicinity might be relatively easy, perhaps a bit more challenging is narrowing down where to buy a home in Southwest Florida. Two communities in Lakewood Ranch to check out are Esplanade at Lakewood Ranch and Indigo.
Construction for Esplanade at Lakewood Ranch began in 2012 and Indigo broke ground in 2015. Both communities are relatively new and ongoing construction is occurring in both. To make comparisons, here are some similarities and differences between the two:
Homes & Real Estate
Esplanade at Lakewood Ranch is comprised of single-family homes. Esplanade at Lakewood Ranch, built by Taylor Morrison, is described as an active lifestyle village. Upon completion, it has plans for 1,350 homes situated on 600 beautifully landscaped acres that have a Mediterranean feel.
With homes in three different home collections to choose from, homebuyers can choose a home that ranges from 1,686 to 2,743 square feet. Each home has two to three bedrooms, two to three-and-a-half bathrooms, and a two-car garage.
Residents enjoy all the amenities these spacious homes have to offer, along with maintenance-free living. This community is eco-friendly and is touted as America’s biggest green-certified community. Neal Communities began building Indigo in January 2015. Indigo, which is comprised of single-family homes, is a bit smaller in size than Esplanade at Lakewood Ranch.
Upon completion there will be 453 luxurious homes situated on 151 attractive acres which include mature trees for shade. There are five different home styles to choose from which offer 1,407 to 1,764 square feet of living space.
Homes are designed in Island, Tuscan and Spanish architectural styles. Each home has three bedrooms, two or two-and-a-half bathrooms, and an attached two-car garage. With features such as large master suites, walk-in closets, lanais, gourmet kitchens and other luxurious perks, homebuyers can live elegantly.
Amenities & Lifestyle
Within Esplanade at Lakewood Ranch, residents enjoy the brand-new clubhouse which has a grand ballroom and a catering kitchen. Other features include its fitness and aerobics center, massage room, resistance pool, card and craft rooms, billiards, and a library.
In the outdoor spaces there are tennis, pickleball, bocce courts, a barbecue space, a fire pit, a formal events lawn and an adventure playground. Other amenities include a lagoon-style heated pool and spa, a fenced-in dog park and a canoe and kayak launch.
One of its grand features is an 18-hole championship golf course with a fully-stocked pro shop. There are also miles of walking trails, with lovely gazebos placed all along the way. There are many activities going on, all of which are overseen by a full-time lifestyle director. Residents can always look to find what’s happening on the community’s monthly calendar.
Indigo has many attractive resort-style amenities planned as well. A clubhouse will include a fitness center, movement studio, catering kitchen and a multi-purpose room. Attention to detail will also be placed in shared outdoor community spaces as well.
Plans include a resort-style pool and spa with cabanas placed throughout. There will also be pickleball and bocce ball. Walking and biking enthusiasts will enjoy the miles of trails surrounding the community. Nature lovers will enjoy the serene views of the pathways and scenic lakes.
Active living is an important part of Indigo’s makeup and an on-site activities director will handle all the details. These will include holiday parties, clubs, bocce ball, and pickleball related events, and other community-based activities. Lakewood Ranch is a wonderful area for Baby Boomers.
