Set in the beautiful Bay Area, Summerset is a unique development which combines four active adult California retirement communities into one. Residents throughout Summerset enjoy luxurious amenities, including an 18-hole golf course. They can also enjoy living in a prime location just minutes from Brentwood’s retail centers and daily conveniences.
There are 2,013 homes in Summerset, spread across four separate neighborhoods: Summerset 1, Summerset Palms, Summerset Vista and Summerset Orchards. Each of these communities have their own gated entrances, clubhouses, swimming pools and other amenities. The communities also have separate homeowners’ associations.
Construction of Summerset began in 1994 and its final phase was completed in 2005. Homebuyers today can expect to find distinctive resale homes in each of Summerset’s four communities. The original phase (Summerset 1) includes 471 single-family homes, built from 14 different floor plans which range in size from 964 to 2,311 square feet. Each home has a minimum of two bedrooms and two bathrooms, while the largest homes also have dens or up to four bedrooms.
Summerset Palms and Summerset Vista began development in 1998 and 2000, respectively. Summerset Palms now contains 431 homes, while Summerset Vista has 464. During construction, both California retirement communities offered the same designs which included 12 single-family floor plans and two models of duplex homes. Residences in these communities range in size from 964 to over 2,600 square feet. Each home has at least two bedrooms and two bathrooms, though several models also have dens or third bedrooms. Some homes also feature two-and-a-half- or three-car garages.
The final phase of the community, Summerset Orchards, was built between 2002 and 2005. Its 647 single-family homes were designed by Del Webb to highlight open floor plans and low-maintenance living. Homes were originally offered in nine floor plans ranging from 1,253 to 2,571 square feet. Most homes have two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a den, although the smallest homes do not have dens. Each home has at least a two-car garage, though some also have three-car garages.
Active adults who choose to buy a home in one of Summerset’s four California retirement communities will pay into the homeowners’ association for that specific community. Each of these neighborhoods has its own clubhouse and outdoor swimming pool. Amenities vary from one clubhouse to the next, but homebuyers can expect to find typical resort-style facilities, such as fitness centers, hobby and game rooms, and outdoor sports courts. There is also an 18-hole golf course winding through the community.
Beyond Summerset, the City of Brentwood offers a quaint shopping district, as well as big-name stores like Target and Home Depot. Residents can also plan day trips to Oakland, which is about 45 minutes away, or continue a bit farther across the Bay into San Francisco. Sacramento is also just 90 minutes south of the community.
With its collection of four distinct neighborhoods, Summerset offers residents a small-town feel within a larger active adult development. The beautiful homes and great location add to this well-established community’s general appeal.
