After reviewing sales made through 55places.com between September 1 and September 30, 2019, we determined which active adult communities sold the best last month. Please note that this number is drawn from sales made through the website and doesn’t represent overall sales in any given community.
The best-selling active adult communities in October include three in Florida, two in Arizona, and one each in Nevada, California, Texas, South Carolina, and Tennessee. But can you guess which communities made the list? Keep reading to discover the best-selling communities of October.
Mid $200s - High $500s
It may not have been one of the ten best-selling communities of September, but this month, Sun City Festival in Buckeye takes the top spot. With world-class amenities, abundant lifestyle activities, and desirable Del Webb floor plans, this 45+ age-restricted community is a current favorite for an Arizona retirement.
With plans for 7,200 single-family homes, this extensive community offers a wide range of amenities for a diverse active lifestyle. The 31,000-square-foot Sage Recreation Center includes a ballroom, a lifelong learning academy, and a state-of-the-art fitness center. The outdoor amenities feature an 18-hole golf course, an amphitheater, a resort-style pool, a softball stadium, and athletic courts.
In addition to these resort-style amenities, residents can enjoy a full social calendar of clubs and classes. Some of the popular groups include Brew Crew, Lady Putters, Mystery Riders, RV Club, and Citizens on Patrol.
Below $100k - Low $400s
Month after month, On Top of the World is one of the best-selling and most popular active adult communities in the country. Located in Ocala in the heart of Central Florida, this gated 55+ community plans to include 10,000 single-family and attached homes upon completion.
The desirable amenities feature three 18-hole golf courses, two restaurants, four recreation centers, a hobby building, and an entertainment and social hub called Circle Square Commons. At the commons, which boasts a spacious town square, residents can enjoy a fitness center, a spa, a continuing education center, an ice cream shop, a deli, a coffee shop, and a cultural center.

Many active adults looking for an affordable Central Florida retirement have found their next home at Oak Run in Ocala. With 3,509 single-family and attached homes, this gated 55+ community is smaller than some of the more expansive active adult communities in the state while still providing a variety of features to enjoy.
The amenities feature three clubhouses, a sports club, and the Royal Oaks Golf Club, which boasts an 18-hole championship golf course, a pro shop, and a restaurant. The most spacious clubhouse, Orchid Club, features a fitness center, a ballroom, and rooms for games, cards, billiards, ceramics, and arts and crafts. Outdoors, the grounds include athletic courts, sand volleyball courts, an outdoor pool and spa, and walking and biking trails.
Ideal for downsizing, the attached homes range from 1,049 to 1,489 square feet with two or three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and attached one- or two-car garages. The best-selling active adult community in the up-and-coming retirement destination of Nevada is Sun City Anthem, located just outside of Las Vegas in Henderson. With less traffic and cooler temperatures thanks to its higher elevation, its location offers proximity to the world-class Las Vegas strip as well as stunning views of the city.
Built from 1998 to 2008 by Del Webb, this 55+ community consists of 7,144 single-family, attached, and condominium homes. The Del Webb floor plans offer desirable features such as open floor plans, spacious great rooms, oversized master suites, and even casitas for guests.
The Anthem Center Clubhouse boasts 77,000 square feet of amenities like a state-of-the-art fitness center, an indoor pool, an indoor walking track, a day spa, and over a dozen meeting and multipurpose rooms ideal for gatherings.
