You can’t visit East Long Island without wanting to retire there. Most of this part of New York State belongs to Suffolk County, which holds the key to any adventurer’s heart. Aside from the breathtaking beaches, the list of landmarks here includes The Hamptons, championship golf courses, a spectacular wine country, and Montauk.
The region’s newest must-see active adult community, The Polo Club at Islandia, has started selling, and with 72 attached luxury homes and resort-style amenities, this gated property is a real find. It's on its way to selling out quickly, so if your interest is piqued, now is the time to think about making a move.
Floor Plans and Features
The Polo Club now has models open, and new residents can move in as soon as five months. These homes are priced from the high $500s to the high $700s, and builder Linxwood Development Group is offering eight floor plans ranging from 1,537 to 2,378 square feet. These elegant homes have two to three bedrooms, two-and-a-half baths, and attached one-car garages.
Every floor plan has a second-story loft and bonus rooms plus full basements, so your guests will have plenty of room when they come to visit. You can also expect to find features like screened-in patios, master suites with spa-like bathrooms, and gourmet kitchens, along with a homeowners’ association (HOA) to provide for community services.
A Private Clubhouse
The Polo Club’s private, 4,000 square-foot clubhouse is already completed, and guests are able to tour it when they visit the grounds. It has an outdoor pool and patio, an indoor fitness center with locker rooms, and several gathering spaces. This will serve as the heart of the community, where homeowners can gather to enjoy workouts, barbecues, the fire pit, card games, meetings, and social activities.
Living in Islandia, NY

Regional medical centers include Northwell Health, South Shore University Hospital, and Stony Brook University Medical Center.
As mentioned earlier, East Long Island is a golfer’s paradise, and the closest one, Wind Watch, is about 10 minutes away and also has tennis courts, a pool, and indoor/outdoor dining. Other nearby golf courses include Heartland Golf Park and Pine Ridge Golf Club. There's no shortage of outdoor recreation areas near Islandia, either. Connetquot River State Park Preserve offers fishing, hiking, and cross-country skiing; Heckscher State Park has a swimming beach, boat launches, disc golf, and playgrounds for your grandchildren. Both are less than 10 miles away from The Polo Club at Islandia. If you want to drive to the south shore beaches (like Fire Island), it takes about an hour with traffic, but the north shore beaches will take about half as long to get to.
