    Tinton Falls is a township in Monmouth County, New Jersey. The township is the perfect place to retire for those looking for a community with a small population, a wide range of restaurants, and a suburban feel. 

    Climate & Geography

    The climate in Tinton Falls is a humid subtropical zone, influenced by the Atlantic Ocean and the Delaware River. Tinton Falls residents experience mild seasonal variation with warm, humid summers and very cold, windy winters. Residents can expect slightly higher-than-average rain and snowfall, and around 209 days of sun throughout the year.

    Situated in Central New Jersey along the Atlantic Coastal Plains, Tinton Falls' surrounding terrain is mostly low, flat land with some rolling hills and many lakes, rivers and tributaries flowing in from the ocean's estuaries.

    Recreation, Culture, & Entertainment

    Tinton Falls has plenty to do for active adults looking for outdoor recreation. The New Shrewsbury Racquet Club is in an indoor tennis club that offers lessons, court rentals, a fitness center, and pickleball. Golfers will enjoy The Twin Brook Golf Center, which is a 9-hole, par-3 golf course with a driving range and learning center. The course is designed to be challenging for experienced players, but non-intimidating for new players. 

    For shopping needs, the Jersey Shore Premium Outlets is an outdoor shopping center located in Tinton Falls with 120 stores. Delicious Orchards is a food market with a 60,000 square foot retail market that specializes in fresh fruits and vegetables. The food market also has a deli and cafe.

    Pleasant Valley Lavender is the only Lavender farm in the state. The farm offers 10 acres of French and English Lavender that the public can explore and cut their own fragrant bundles. They offer an assortment of fresh cut bundles, soaps, lavender honey, and candles.

    In addition to these local offerings, Tinton Falls is also about an hour away from Manhattan and all of the world-class amenities and entertainment that New York City has to offer. History buffs can also visit Philadelphia, just under an hour and a half away, for another day trip opportunity.

    The cost of living in the city is higher than the national average, but lower than the state index. The high cost of homes and housing are the most significant factors, and while groceries and utilities are slightly higher than average, the cost of healthcare and transportation are below.

However, the state does have the highest property taxes in the entire country. Residents 65+ can qualify for a homestead exemption rebate to help offset the high property taxes. The sales tax in Tinton Falls is 6.625 percent.

    Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune City is regionally ranked No. 5 in New Jersey. The hospital is nationally ranked by U.S. News in adult orthopedics and pediatric cancer high performing in nephrology, aortic valve surgery, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, heart bypass surgery, heart failure.

    Other high performing hospitals in area include Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, and Hackensack Meridian Health Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank.
