    Apache Junction experiences a hot desert climate characterized by very hot summers and mild winters. The average annual precipitation is around 13 inches of rainfall, and there are 301 sunny days per year.

    Located in the Phoenix metro area, Apache Junction is bordered by the Superstition Mountains to the east, the Goldfield Mountains to the north, and Mesa to the west.

    Apache Junction is centrally located between several large natural areas, including the Lost Dutchman State Park and Usery Mountain Regional Park, both of which have expansive desert hiking trails. 

    Residents can explore the history of the area at Goldfield Ghost Town, which features boutique shops and historic buildings. There are several small shopping plazas in Apache Junction, but many residents enjoy traveling to nearby Mesa for the Mesa Market Place Swap Meet. This popular outdoor market features thousands of vendors, a food court, and live music.

    Retirees can also travel under an hour west to Phoenix for even more gourmet restaurants, high-end shopping, and sporting events.

    Apache Junction’s cost of living is lower than both the state and national averages.

    Banner Goldfield Medical Center is the only hospital in Apache Junction. Other nearby hospitals rated high performing by U.S. News include Banner Heart Hospital and Banner Baywood Medical Center, both in Mesa.
