    Apple Valley is a town in the Inland Empire area of California. Apple Valley is located at the edge of the Mojave Desert. The residents of the town are committed to honoring the town’s roots through memorial parks and museums. 

    Climate & Geography

    The low rainfall average, lack of snowfall, and many sunny days makes Apple Valley one of the drier places in California. Apple Valley is also one of the hottest places in the state. The hottest days occur between June through September. 

    Residents of Apple Valley experience cool summers with very hot and dry summers. There are high winds in the spring and fall. Apple Valley residents also get to experience incredible sunsets and dramatic landscapes. 

    The San Bernardino Mountains are located just south of Apple Valley.

    Recreation, Culture, & Entertainment 

    As a way to pay homage to Apple Valley’s history, residents maintain the Sunset Hills Memorial Park and Apple Valley Legacy Museum. The memorial park’s Veterans’ Garden of Valor is the burial site for many of the area’s veterans. The museum displays artifacts, news articles, and scrapbooks to showcase the past of the town and its people. 

    Jess Ranch Lakes is a recreational park with fishing options such as limit or non-limit fishing on the lake, fishing in the angling pond, and a catch and release lake area. The park also has an organized fly fishing club, Hi-Desert Fly Fishers Club. The club meets monthly and has guest speakers, demonstrations, and more. 

    The Ashwood Golf Course features beautiful vistas and panoramic views of California’s High Desert. The course features 27 holes, three unique 9-hole courses, and is considered to be one of the best greens in the area. 

    Cost of Living & Taxes

    The cost of living in Apple Valley is significantly lower than California’s average, but higher than the national rate. Social Security and railroad retirement benefits are not taxed. All private, local, state, and federal pensions are fully taxed. 

    The sales tax in Apple Valley is 7.75 percent.
