Further recreational options include the Encinitas Ranch Golf Course.

    Other than the beautiful beaches and gardens, residents also have access to the Lazy Acres Encinitas shopping mall and Encinitas Library. Encinta is also home to wineries, farmers markets, and museums like the San Dieguito Heritage Museum or the Lux Art Institute. 

    Residents seeking even more water recreation, shopping, and fine dining can visit San Diego, less than an hour south of Encinitas.

    California residents do not have to pay taxes on Social Security or railroad retirement income. Furthermore, homeowners over the age of 62 can receive a tax break on their property taxes. Residents over the age of 65 can also take a $118 exemption on their tax bill.

    Encinitas’ local hospital is Scripps Memorial Hospital-Encinitas, which specializes in heart failure and knee replacement. Additionally, the Scripps La Jolla Hospitals is nationally ranked by U.S. News with specializations in cardiology, diabetes, orthopedics, urology, and pulmonology, to name a few. 

    Other options within a 15-mile radius include Tri City Medical Center, Scripps Green Hospital, and VA San Diego Healthcare System.
