Lake San Marcos is a master-planned community made up of distinct neighborhoods, some of which are for homebuyers 55+ while others are without age restrictions. The community's location in San Marcos puts residents just outside of San Diego and about 10 minutes from the Pacific Ocean coastline. When they need to get out, grocery stores are just a few minutes away, including Ralph’s and Sprouts Farmers Market. Golfers have two courses within the community and can also find multiple courses to play nearby, including Boulder Oaks Golf Club and Shadowridge Golf Club. There are also plenty of parks and trails to enjoy, including Connors Park, Double Peak Park, and Sunset Park.
