Sebring is a city located in Highlands County, Florida. The city is known for the Downtown Historic District, specifically its circle shape that created the nickname “The City on the Circle.” Retirees are attracted to the tropical, rainforest, qualities that this city has to offer.
Climate & Geography
Sebring has a humid subtropical climate. The average annual high temperature is in the mid 80s and the average annual low temperature is in the low 60s. The average annual precipitation is roughly 50 inches of rainfall.
Three lakes run through Sebring are Dinner Lake, Little Lake Jackson, and Lake Jackson being the largest. Sebring is part of the southern end of the Lake Wales Ridge, an area made up of ancient islands where rare plants and animals can be found.

Active adults can take advantage of the warm weather by taking a stroll or bike ride through Highlands Hammock State Park and the Lake Istokpoga dock. City Pier Beach is available for residents to lay out on the soft sand and go for a swim.
Museums, theaters, and art galleries are scattered throughout the city and great for rainy days. The larger city of Tampa is located approximately 100 miles away for day trips.
Cost of Living & Taxes
The median home cost is right at the national median. Florida is one of the few states with no income tax. Florida residents ages 65 and older who meet certain income limits can receive an extra homestead exemption equal to the assessed value of property. Social Security and other retirement income is not taxed.
