After getting a great response for our new Advanced Search feature, we decided to use it ourselves to find the best low-priced communities in Florida. Our search focused on communities which met three criteria: all community sizes, an age-restriction and new construction homes. We further restricted our search to communities with homes priced in the low $100s or under.

The Florida Panhandle is the state’s most northwestern region, and a lovely spot for a beach vacation or a coastal retirement. This long, narrow area stretches across approximately 200 miles and is between 50 and 100 miles wide. Known for its sunny, white beaches, the Florida Panhandle is bordered by Alabama and Georgia in the north and west, and the Gulf of Mexico on the south. Some of the area’s most popular destinations include Pensacola, Panama City, Destin and Tallahassee.

Florida is famous for many things: beautiful beaches, theme parks and sunny skies. The state is also home to the Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. These unique landmarks lie at the heart of space exploration as the sites where NASA launched space shuttles, satellites and other military and civilian space projects. Known as the Space Coast, this area is also home to great beaches, fun attractions, diverse restaurants and shopping centers, and several active adult communities.

Set in Southwest Florida, on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, the Sarasota-Bradenton area is a popular retirement destination for active adult retirees. There are beautiful beaches, diverse shopping centers, cultural attractions and lovely active adult communities. Those who relocate to the area will also be happy with Florida’s retirement-friendly tax laws.

For generations, Florida has been known as the top retirement state. Active adult communities are abundant, there are favorable tax laws for retirees and census data shows a high percentage of residents over the age of 65. Yet several other states have recently begun to give Florida some serious competition for this top spot.
