The nation’s first 55+ community, Sun City now has over 28,000 homes. Its single-family homes average 946 to 2,137 square feet with two to three bedrooms, while the attached garden condos, duplexes, quads, and villas range from under 1,000 to 2,000+ square feet.

There are seven recreation centers here, with fitness facilities, pools, racquetball courts, woodworking shops, and restaurants. And if you’re a golfer, Sun City’s eight golf courses give its lucky residents one of the highest golf-hole-per-capita rates in the country. Beyond golf, you’ll find miles of trails, pickleball and tennis courts, softball fields, and fishing lakes. 15. Sun City Center – Sun City Center, FL

Near Tampa, Sun City Center began in 1961 with Del Webb and has grown into a self-contained village with over 11,000 homeowners. The housing options range from duplexes and condos to single-family homes, with Minto’s current collections offering 1,503 to 3,086 square feet. 

Three amenity campuses serve the community. Central Campus features fitness centers, indoor pools, a walking track, and arts studios. 16. Del Webb at Cane Bay – Summerville, SC

Just 25 miles northwest of Charleston, Del Webb at Cane Bay spans 360 acres, including preserved wetlands and carefully landscaped grounds. Del Webb finished just over 1,000 single-family homes here in 2017. There are six home collections and over 20 floor plans ranging from 1,109 to 3,400 square feet with one to four bedrooms.

The 20,000-square-foot Resort clubhouse features a fitness center, an indoor pool, hobby studios, a ballroom, and a sundeck. An outdoor pool, a fishing lake, a dog park, and tennis and pickleball courts are also part of the community’s lifestyle. Around 100 clubs meet regularly at Del Webb at Cane Bay, including scrapbooking, golf, line dancing, and photography.

17. Fairfield Glade – Crossville, TN

About 90 minutes from Nashville and Chattanooga, Fairfield Glade in Crossville has 4,000 new and resale homes and a wide range of price points. The options include Willshire Heights condos (938 square feet), Lakeshore Terrace townhomes (1,252 to 1,729 square feet), and single-family homes ranging from 1,389 to 3,041 square feet with two or three bedrooms. 

The Fairfield Glade Community Center has a gymnasium, a swimming pool, whirlpool spas, a sauna, a Trackman Golf Simulator, and meeting rooms. Residents can play on five golf courses. 18. Sun City Lincoln Hills – Lincoln, CA

Sun City Lincoln Hills is northeast of Sacramento in Lincoln with 6,783 resale homes completed by Del Webb in 2008. This 55+ community’s attached homes are two-story buildings that range from 917 to 1,519 square feet and have one to two bedrooms. The single-family options range from 901 to 3,068 square feet and have one to four bedrooms. 

The appealing Orchard Creek Lodge features indoor and outdoor pools, a fitness center, an indoor walking track, and a 15,000-square-foot ballroom. 19. PebbleCreek – Goodyear, AZ

Between Phoenix, the White Tank Mountains, and Estrella Mountain Park, PebbleCreek offers 6,100 new and resale homes. Its Villa Home Series attached homes run 1,404 to 1,903 square feet with two bedrooms, while the single-family ranch homes range from 1,619 to 3,079 square feet with two to five bedrooms.
