Homes close to the Atlantic Ocean on Florida’s Treasure Coast are some of the most desirable pieces of Florida real estate. The location is hard to beat as properties are close to the beach and near golf courses, shopping, and dining. There’s a lot of nature and wildlife in the area as well.

It has its own peaceful, history-filled vibe, and active adults looking for affordable 55+ communities have several attractive options. These five have homes for sale under $150,000.

Colonnades at Fort PierceFort Pierce, IL

Below $100k – Mid $200s

Waterfront living doesn’t have to be outside of your budget, even during a Florida retirement. At Colonnades at Fort Pierce, buyers can choose a condo with one or two bedrooms and one or two bathrooms and have access to the Indian River Lagoon.

The community has a private dock and boat slips as well as plenty of storage for RVs and boats. It’s an intimate place to live, with only 250 condo units and a lot of social activities and clubs available to residents.

Colonnades at Fort Pierce is on Hutchinson Island and close to its seafood restaurants, shops, and barrier island beaches. There’s lots of wildlife to see and enjoy as well, with nesting sea turtles and passing whales and manatees. Units with a price tag lower than $150,000 offer between 564 and 1,300 square feet and include assigned parking.

MeadowoodFort Pierce, FL

Low $100s – High $300s

Golf course living doesn’t have to be out of anyone’s price range, especially if you choose a community like Meadowood in Fort Pierce. This Treasure Coast neighborhood doesn’t have age restrictions, but active adults enjoy its lifestyle and amenitiesSingle-family homes and condos are available on a resale basis in a wide range of prices. Buyers can choose a two- or three-bedroom resale property with between 1,400 and 2,000 square feet.

The Meadowood Golf and Tennis Club provides opportunities for social activities and golf. There’s an 18-hole course, five clay tennis courts, pools, a pro shop, a driving range, and a fitness center. There’s a fee to join, but residents pay less than they’d pay at other local golf clubs.

The community is close to a lot of the best local landmarks, including Fort Pierce Inlet State Park, a perfect spot for swimming, fishing, canoeing, or paddling. Geo-seeking has really taken off in this area, and hikers will enjoy the 30-minute oak hammock walk.

Cedar Pointe VillagesStuart, FL

Below $100k – Mid $100s

A 55+ community located in Stuart, Cedar Pointe Villages offers low-maintenance condominiums. The community is comprised of several villages with shared amenities, including several outdoor pools, a clubhouse, and shuffleboard courts. Also, homeowners enjoy a low-maintenance lifestyle thanks to a homeowners’ association (HOA) that takes care of cable, common area maintenance, laundry facilities, lawn care, exterior maintenance, pest control, trash removal, and water.

Constructed between 1967 and 1972, Cedar Pointe Villages has 480 condos spread across several buildings. The homes range from 619 to 1,138 square feet with one to two bedrooms, one to two bathrooms, and ample carport parking. Many of the homes also feature breakfast nooks and spacious living rooms.

Palm GroveFort Pierce, FL

Mid $100s – High $100s

Low-maintenance living is possible, even when you own a single-family home. At Palm Grove in Fort Pierce, residents enjoy an HOA that takes care of lawn care, security at the guard gate, water and sewer bills as well as basic cable and common area maintenance.

This 55+ community comes with amenities like an exercise room, a gathering room, and a library in the clubhouse. There’s also table tennis, billiards, and a game room. Outside, residents enjoy a heated pool, a patio, and shuffleboard and tennis courts. The community is close to some of the Treasure Coast’s best golf courses, including The Champion Turf Club at St. James and The Evergreen Golf Club.

The homes for sale at Palm Grove are affordable and spacious. Sizes range from 1,305 to 2,766 square feet and have two or three bedrooms. Most of the resale homes have been upgraded with elements such as granite counters and stainless steel appliances.
