Palm Beach County in Florida has a reputation as a rich person’s playground. Fortunately, that’s not the case when it comes to 55+ communities. Here are several affordable active adult communities in West Palm Beach, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, and Boca Raton.

Palm Beach County has 50 miles of beaches, more than 160 golf courses, and an average winter temperature of 74 degrees. It’s often associated with upscale mansions and swanky shops, but it’s not a place where only the rich and famous play.

This area along the southeast coast of Florida has a number of affordable 55+ communities for active adults in cities like Delray Beach and Boynton Beach. Even cosmopolitan gems like West Palm Beach and Boca Raton have budget-friendly homes in neighborhoods that don’t skimp on amenities and luxury. Here are some of the best.

Boca LagoBoca Raton, FL

At Boca Lago in Boca Raton, 1,696 townhomes, villas, and condos are divided into eight subdivisions, all nestled into gorgeous greenery and a manicured golf course. The Boca Lago Golf & Country Club offers membership to all residents. The clubhouse features a health and wellness center that includes an aerobics studio and fitness equipment. There’s also a sauna, an activities center, and a game room. Living here, you can enjoy pool parties, happy hours, and musical performances. There are opportunities to participate in day trips, hear from guest lecturers, and have drive-in movie nights.

With two international airports less than half an hour away and ocean access within a few miles, Boca Lago is convenient and unique. The local area provides outstanding shopping, dining, and outdoor recreation. Nightlife is especially fun in Boca Raton, where you can find piano bars, karaoke, wine bars, and craft breweries.

Indian Spring – Boynton Beach, FL

Indian Spring has something for everyone in its 1,901 properties, whether you want an easy-to-maintain condo or a single-family home that’s perfect for entertaining. Townhomes and villas are also available. Residents can become members of the country club and enjoy the two 18-hole golf courses as well as other social and athletic benefits that come with membership. Amenities at Indian Spring include a 52,000-square-foot clubhouse, a fitness center, an Olympic-size pool, and several multipurpose and meeting rooms.

For affordable, low-maintenance condominium living, look no further than Hampshire Gardens, an intimate and cozy community of one- and two-bedroom condos. Social calendars are full at this 55+ community, and it’s only a mile from the beach. Residents play shuffleboard and bocce, relax at the outdoor pool, and get together in the clubhouse for parties and events.

One-bedroom units are approximately 570 square feet, while two-bedroom units are more than 800 square feet. This is an excellent opportunity for buyers looking to downsize or keep their costs down while living in the middle of a sunny beach paradise.

Palm GreensDelray Beach, FL

Below $100k – Mid $100s

A collection of 1,401 attached villas and condos, Palm Greens has everything an active adult could want in a community. The clubhouse has an exercise studio, a ballroom, and a stage. The tennis center includes nine tennis courts, and there are 10 shuffleboard courts. There’s a library, a snack bar, and plenty of trails and scenic space for walking and biking. Residents enjoy concerts and shows and can join over 20 clubs and events.

Condos come in four models with two or three bedrooms, ranging from 1,196 to 1,474 square feet. The villas include two bedrooms and two bathrooms and have views of a golf course or the water. Club Baywinds is the clubhouse where residents gather for cultural discussions, debates over current events, and activities like the craft club and square dancing. Yoga, Zumba, and water aerobics are popular activities in the fitness center and pool.

Baywinds is comprised of just over 1,000 single-family and attached homes. Three models are sized from 1,200 to over 2,500 square feet. In thriving West Palm Beach, residents can find golf courses, malls, and five-star restaurants. Also, the community is close to Interstate 95 and Palm Beach International Airport.
