It's akin to reliving the teenage years, where they can socialize and play all day if they wish. Building connections and making new friends is a delightful aspect of this role. In terms of professional experience and credentials, I've been a realtor for over 25 years and a Florida Realtor for 5 years. My specialization lies in retirement communities and working with seniors. Having undergone the process of retirement and relocation with my husband two years ago, I understand the importance of the information and assistance that a 55places agent can provide. My background includes a master's degree in Education, and I've retired from teaching (5th grade). I hold Berkshire Hathaway certificates in relocation and technology. Central Florida boasts numerous retirement communities, each with its unique flavor, amenities, and services. The area is more affordable than Southern Florida, enjoys a temperate climate, and is less impacted by hurricanes and tropical storms. Additionally, being part of the Nature Coast region, Central Florida features a unique ecosystem, including springs, marine sanctuaries for manatees, and three national forests—Apalachicola, Osceola, and Ocala—spanning over 1.2 million acres. For those interested in 55+ communities, my tips include visiting as many communities as possible, relying on an expert realtor for community tours, and documenting important information like HOA fees and pet-friendly offerings. Take notes and pictures on your phone, because sometimes when you see more than one community the information gets jumbled. In my spare time I enjoy treasure hunting and metal detecting, especially after storms when there's a higher chance of discovering lost treasures.
