Boca Lago in Boca Raton, Florida, is truly a community within a community. Containing 1,696 homes, Boca Lago has eight subdivisions, seven of which are restricted to active adults aged 55 and better. With a bustling country club, residents here have plenty of activities to keep them entertained, as well as social opportunities with not just other active adults but people of all ages as well.
Built from 1978 to 1990 by Frankel Homes, Boca Lago features condos, villas and townhomes. The 55+ subdivisions include the Fairways, Greens, Vistas, Palms, Glades, Pines and Cypress while Horizons is the all-ages neighborhood. All are maintenance-free, as the association fee covers the cost of home exterior maintenance.
The condos are part of two and three-story buildings with 1,100 to 2,400 square feet of space with up to three bedrooms and two or two-and-a-half bathrooms. The townhomes offer 1,200 to 2,900 square feet of space within two stories and two or three bedrooms and up to three bathrooms. The attached single-story villas feature 1,300 to 2,900 square feet of space with up to three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The villas are the only homes that have an attached one-car garage; both the condos and townhomes have lot parking.
All residents are entitled to purchase a membership to the Boca Lago Country Club, although it is not required to live in any of the subdivisions. Those who decide not to become members still have access to the satellite community pool. But for those residents who do purchase a membership, the country club is a haven for tennis and golf enthusiasts with 20 tennis courts and a 27-hole championship golf course. Challenging enough for advanced players but not too difficult for novices, the course was designed by the renowned team of Bruce Devlin and Robert Von Haggee.
Residents can also take lessons from the on-site tennis professional or get in extra tee time at the golf practice facility. Beyond tennis and golf, the Boca Lago Country Club offers activities for every interest imaginable. The health and wellness center also has an aerobics and dance studio, sauna and locker rooms. Swimmers will love the outdoor Olympic-sized pool, lap pool and spa. In addition, the club has a game room, ballroom and card room.
Hungry after all those activities? Options include the main dining room, the 19th Hole Bar & Lounge and The Grille Room, or relax in the outdoor tiki bar. Outside of the community, shopping options like Home Goods, Lakeside Centre, Boca Lyons Plaza and Walmart Supercenter are just minutes away.
With State Route 7 and the Florida Turnpike nearby, residents have even more choices for fun and travel. Plus, the area is home to 47 miles of beaches along the coast and even more golf courses, including the Boca Grove Plantation Golf Course, The Club at Boca Pointe, Boca Woods Country Club and Southwinds Golf Course.
With so many options on-site and off in a community that cater to all ages, Boca Lago is the perfect active adult community in Florida.
