About On Top of the World
On Top of the World is a 55+ community in Ocala, Florida, planned for as many as 10,000 homes, making it one of the largest active adult communities in the state. Homebuyers have access to three golf courses, several clubhouses, fitness centers, and dining options, plus hobby amenities like an R/C airplane field and car track. The community sits about six and a half miles west of Interstate 75, putting residents close to Ocala while living in homes with community-covered maintenance. On Top of the World Amenities
Residents at On Top of the World have access to a wide range of amenities, including three golf courses, several clubhouses, fitness centers, swimming pools, tennis and pickleball courts, restaurants, an R/C airplane field, and an R/C car track. The Recreation Center, Hobby Building, Arbor Club, and Conference Center are open to residents.
There are three 18-hole golf courses at On Top of the World. Candler Hills Golf Club is a semi-private, par-72 course that plays from 4,877 to 7,233 yards across eight sets of tees, designed by architect Gordon Lewis. The Links and The Tortoise & The Hare are private courses reserved for residents and their guests.
Two restaurants serve the community: The Pub, open only to residents and their guests, and The Club at Candler Hills, which sits next to the golf course and is open to the public.
Circle Square Commons is the entertainment and social hub for the public and On Top of the World residents. The Circle Square Cultural Center (CSCC) at Circle Square Commons brings touring performers and events to the Ocala area throughout the year, with seating for over 830 guests theater-style. In addition to concerts, the Cultural Center is the largest indoor venue for banquets in Ocala and also hosts theatrical productions, dances, conventions, expos, and fundraising events.
The Ranch Fitness Center and Spa includes cardiovascular and strength-training equipment, specialized fitness programs, a full-service day spa, and a professional salon.
Master the Possibilities is a not-for-profit lifelong learning center at Circle Square Commons offering several hundred courses a year, including academic and special interest classes, fine arts and crafts, health and wellness, computer training, and culinary classes. Most classes are free to residents or available for a nominal fee.
Circle Square Commons also includes everyday conveniences such as an ice cream shop, a deli, and a weekly farmers market with locally grown produce. The Town Square, at the center of Circle Square Commons, hosts live entertainment every Friday and Saturday evening at its stage gazebo.
On Top of the World Homes & Real Estate
On Top of the World features a variety of floor plans designed for low-maintenance living, with single-family homes and attached villas ranging from approximately 1,000 to over 3,000 square feet. Most homes use concrete block, steel stud, and stucco construction, and new homes are built using techniques designed to reduce energy costs.
On Top of the World also has a wide selection of resale homes. Construction of the community began in the early 1980s, and numerous home styles and floor plans have been offered since. Resale buyers can choose from smaller villas up to larger homes with golf course views.
On Top of the World is divided into two distinct sections with several neighborhoods to choose from, depending on a buyer's budget and preferred amenities. The Villas offer attached homes from 1,092 to 1,856 square feet, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and an attached one- or two-car garage.
The single-family homes come in seven collections with more than 100 floor plans, ranging from 1,204 to 3,039 square feet with two to three bedrooms and bathrooms and an attached two- to three-and-a-half-car garage. Many of these homes also include den spaces.
On Top of the World Lifestyle
Residents of On Top of the World enjoy a low-maintenance lifestyle, with the homeowners' association covering common-area maintenance, security, and other upkeep. Homeowners in the Longleaf Ridge and Crescent Ridge neighborhoods also have lawn care, exterior maintenance, and basic Wi-Fi included in their HOA fees.
On Top of the World offers more than 175 organized clubs and interest groups, along with community activities, events, and classes scheduled throughout the week.
Ocala, FL Area
On Top of the World is located in Ocala, just over 10 miles from the city's center. This location puts residents close to daily necessities as well as local attractions.

The voting system is rigged. You say to vote on line but you ask the elder people to manage the website that is difficult. Now you just increased the fees .. and you say the residents didn’t vote. I think there should be a investigation and a correction
Yes the below information would be useful to a new buyer. Simply to realize the truth. We built a new home here in 2023. Excited to move in as we THOUGHT it was a great place. Well after 3 years we have learned the truth. The lie from sales / realtors atr overwhelming. They SAY EVERYTHING outside your house is taken care of. Not true! in 3 years no one has trimmed or weeded anything! Grass gets cut but all other items are done by me. When you call they say they do not trim bushes or weed. They say we have 7 pools to use. Not True! The separate neighborhoods are looked down yet the most expensive one can use everything! They don’t tell you this. Home quality is just OK. MANY issues with poor quality and a brand new house that was filthy on the day of our close. After today I have learned the management company does not care one bit about anyone living here, look down on us even though we are the customers. Be ware of new home construction and quality also. Many cost reductions are happening.
Maybe when Sydney Colen and his Wife ran the place it was better, but now under Ken Colen. Be very cautious, do your research on everything be fore you sign up for this place. They are overbuilding like crazy and desperate to sell you a home and get you hook /line/ sinker. HOA has gone up over $100 per/month! They said it goes up $5 or $10 per year. Another lie.
Not thrilled to write this but I don’t want any others to come in blind. I should have researched more.
Purchased in Providence 4 years ago and remodeled. Plan on retiring next fall. We visit every opportunity. Our neighbors are terrific, Customer service has been outstanding. We have lived in every time zone in the US and we have never been as pleased and satisfied as we are in OTOW. We have found peace and tranquillity in an absolutely beautiful setting. Best of the Best in our humble but well traveled opinion! Could not be more pleased!!!
I have lived here for quite a few years. I have seen a decline in how OTOW maintains it’s community. Leaves are falling, increased risk for falls. They blow leaves back on to yards and in to gardens. They smoke and throw the butts on our lawns. They won’t allow us to cut down trees in front, but they don’t keeps us safe from leaves covering did repaired roads. If I wasn’t at this stage of life and health I would move. I would not consider this community if you are looking.
Beautiful community with well built homes at prices for all budgets. Sales and design staff are wonderful. There is customer service on site where you can sit down and discuss any questions you may have regarding just about everything. Overall OTOW is the best community to choose to live and enjoy all it has to offer.
