With a pleasant year-round climate, easy access to outdoor recreation and plenty of award-winning golf courses, the area offers an exceptional quality of life for retirees. In fact, many active adult communities in the area provide on-site golf courses for residents. From wine country to the coast, we’re exploring the top five golf course communities that Central California has to offer.

Trilogy at Monarch Dunes – Nipomo, CA

Trilogy at Monarch Dunes is a high-end community situated at the southern end of San Luis Obispo County. This beautiful community consists of 1,350 single family and attached homes ranging from 1,623 to 3,694 square feet. In addition to a 31,000 square-foot clubhouse, residents are served by the Monarch Dunes Golf Club, which includes an 18-hole course and a 12-hole course.

The community’s original 18-hole “Old Course” opened in 2006 and was later named one of the top new courses by GOLF Magazine. One of the main attractions of Kern City is its close proximity to Sundale Country Club. In addition to the community’s own on-site amenities, residents can easily walk to the Sundale Country Club. The nearby country club offers 18 holes of golf with a water-featured layout, a pitching and chipping green, full grass driving range, and a pro shop.

The Greens at Seven Oaks – Bakersfield, CA

With a strong sense of community, beautifully landscaped grounds, and impressive amenities, The Greens at Seven Oaks is a top retirement community in Bakersfield. This gated 55+ community has 404 single family homes in over 25 floor plans.

Golf lovers will feel right at home at the community’s 27-hole championship golf course. Designed by renowned architect Robert Muir Graves, the Seven Oaks Country Club offers an exciting game for all playing abilities. It consists of three nine-hole courses that are situated among lakes, creeks, and other water features. Cypress Ridge – Arroyo Grande, CA

The community is ideally located near Pismo State Beach and California’s wine country. It consists of 375 single family homes ranging in size from 1,950 to 4,000 square feet.

Residents can enjoy California’s coastal weather while playing a round of golf at the community’s Cypress Ridge Golf Course. This award-winning 18-hole golf course was designed by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy and offers elevation changes and stunning views of the ocean. In addition to being a favorite among residents, the Cypress Ridge Golf Course is a popular destination for golf lovers in the Central California area.

Blacklake – Nipomo, CA

Situated in California’s beautiful central coast area, Blacklake offers a thriving social lifestyle while maintaining an intimate environment. This well-established community is nestled among oak woodlands and lush countryside, but it still provides easy access to shopping and daily conveniences.
