There are many established communities in Maryland that offer condos and homes for resale. But a newly built house offers homeowners the options of customization, plus the comfort of knowing that the maintenance-free lifestyle of a 55+ community extends to less home maintenance. Here are five communities in Maryland that offer new builds.

Bay Bridge CoveStevensville, MD

Low $300s – High $300s

For those who are dreaming of a shore lifestyle, Bay Bridge Cove offers attached homes on Kent Island. Just on the other side of the Bay Bridge from Annapolis, the 55+ community developed by McKee Builders will have 273 attached homes that range from 1,400 to 1,700 square feet.

The community has a brand-new clubhouse, outdoor pool, and tennis courts, but the real appeal of Bay Bridge Cove is the island. Active adult residents will enjoy riding bikes on the Kent Island Bike Trails, bird watching, and boating, all with easy access to Annapolis, Washington, D.C. and the Baltimore-Washington International Airport.

The Harbours at Solomons IslandDowell, MD

Low $300s – Mid $500s

The Harbours at Solomons Island offers a waterfront 55+ community in Southern Maryland. The small community of newly-built homes is located just across Back Creek from Solomons Island proper. The attached and single-family homes range from 1,844 to 2,308 square feet and can be customized.

The community has a marina, a kayak launch, and a beach area. And while the biggest amenity might be the water, the community is also near vineyards, breweries, Calvert Marine Museum and restaurants serving fresh seafood.

Courts of ClarksburgClarksburg, MD

High $400s – High $500s

Well-respected builder Pulte Homes is developing the community of Courts of Clarksburg in northern Montgomery County, Maryland. The single-family homes range from 1,400 to 1,800 square feet and are customizable to have between two and five bedrooms as well as two and four bedrooms.

While Clarksburg is not far from the activity of Washington, D.C. and the southern end of the county, the area offers bucolic farmland beauty. The community is adjacent to parks, green spaces, and golf courses. The 55+ age-restricted community has its own clubhouse but also has access to the amenities at the planned community of Clarksburg Village.
