The largest active adult community in Texas, Sun City Texas contains several multi-purpose hobby and craft studios and a wide mix of resort-style amenities. Residents can enjoy more than 86,000 square feet of indoor amenities along with three championship, 18-hole golf courses; numerous tennis, bocce ball, and pickleball courts; and a dog park.

Sun City Texas offers great variety for active adult homebuyers seeking Texas homes for sale. This 55+ community is about 35 miles north of Austin, and it contains several new and resale homes available in multiple housing styles and prices. Del Webb started building this community in 1995 and currently offers several dozen floor plans that range in size from 940 to more than 3,000 square feet.

Hill Country Retreat – San Antonio, TX

Low $200s – Low $400s

Del Webb started Hill Country Retreat in 2006, with Village Builders buying 100 lots in 2013. Upon completion, this 55+ community in San Antonio will contain more than 2,000 single-family homes that range in size from 1,109 to nearly 3,000 square feet. Most residences are single-story ranch homes, although certain models offer an optional second floor.

Residents can tap into their creative side in multiple hobby rooms or partake in the community’s other amenities, such as a billiards room, a library, a state-of-the-art fitness center, an indoor pool, and an indoor walking track. To stay socially engaged, homeowners can mingle with friends at potluck dinners, walking club, nature trips, Friday night socials, and more.

Heritage RanchFairview, TX

Mid $200s – High $500s

A 50+ community in Fairview, Heritage Ranch contains 1,144 single-family homes and attached villas available in 21 floor plans built by K. Hovnanian, Lennar, and US Homes. Most homes, which range in size from 1,307 to 3,351 square feet, include outdoor patios. Other options include golf cart garages, wide doorways, three-car garages, and granite countertops. Homeowners pay association dues that cover villa yard maintenance. 

In addition to an arts and crafts room where residents can work with their hands, Heritage Ranch also features a ballroom, a billiards and card room, a library, a well-equipped fitness center, and an indoor lap pool. The amenities continue outdoors with horseshoe and bocce ball courts, miles of hiking and biking trails, a pool, and four lighted tennis courts. Golfers of all skill levels can enjoy the Heritage Ranch golf course, which includes a driving range, a chipping area, a sand trap, and a putting green.

Robson Ranch – TexasDenton, TX

Mid $200s – High $700s

Located 35 miles northwest of Dallas-Fort Worth, Robson Ranch – Texas welcomes residents aged 40 and older. Upon completion, this age-restricted community in Denton will contain 7,200 single-family and attached homes available in 25 floor plans. Homes range in size from 1,413 to 2,950 square feet and feature outdoor spaces, energy-efficient appliances, and open living concepts. Active adult homebuyers seeking new-construction homes can semi-customize their desired features and upgrades.

Robson Ranch – Texas contains a ceramics studio with three kilns in addition to several other amenities. Homeowners can also enjoy a library, an arts and crafts studio, a woodworking shop, and a computer lab. Active adults can stay as active as they like through a variety of activities such as softball, water aerobics, and Tai Chi. Also, residents can stay socially engaged through numerous groups such as dog club and pottery club, or they can join the fun at regularly held events such as singles mix and mingle and Wednesday dine out.

Containing nearly 3,000 homes, Frisco Lakes is a vibrant 55+ community located in Frisco. Residents can also enjoy four tennis courts, four bocce ball courts, miles of walking and biking trails, and an outdoor pool and spa. Those who enjoy the camaraderie of staying active with others can join in water aerobics and line dancing or participate in tennis and golf tournaments.

Frisco Lakes offers multiple single-family floor plans that feature spacious great rooms, gourmet kitchens, and generous outdoor living space. Homes require minimal maintenance, giving residents more time to enjoy the community’s many amenities.
