The Ponds Monroe is built around a 19-acre nature preserve surrounded by water, with a jogging path, scenic nature walk with exercise stations along the way and a pond for fishing. A gazebo overlooking the water offers a tranquil, relaxing setting to enjoy the beauty of nature and the outdoors. Bird lovers will find that the array of birdhouses set throughout the preserve attract an amazing variety and species of birds. The Concordia Shopping Center is only a half mile away, while The Freehold Raceway Mall is only 15 minutes away and offers a variety of upscale department stores. Thompson Park with 675 acres is a great place to go to with the grandkids. It offers hiking and walking trails, ballfields, picnic areas with grills, fishing, ice-skating in the winter, fairs, concerts, fireworks, and a mini-zoo.

For musical performances and theatrical productions, the George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick and the McCarter Theater at Princeton University are nearby and the Marasco Theater at the local high school has performances often with famous entertainers. In Monroe Township, an excellent senior center offers many activities and there is also a 25,000 square-foot library. For the travel buff, take the express bus to the Port Authority or take the train at Princeton Junction to Penn Station. Philadelphia and New York are just one hour away. For long distance travel, Newark Liberty International Airport is only 40 minutes away and the famous Atlantic City less than two hours.     The Ponds has a lot going for it but the clubhouse feels a bit dated. It is very traditional and it is nice, but just feels a little old fashioned. Even so, what's inside is well taken care of and it's got everything I could want.
