Reconsider Relocation to Sun City

Sun City leadership and its Facilities Management Department should seriously reflect on the handling—or lack thereof—of the ongoing water penetration issues at the Northpoint Amenity Center. For weeks, the affected area has remained cordoned off, with little to no visible progress made toward resolving the issue. Meanwhile, the damage has expanded, the availability of equipment has diminished, tripping hazards have emerged, and residents have endured significant inconvenience.

This lack of timely and effective action reflects poorly on the Facilities Management Department and raises concerns about their ability to address critical maintenance needs. If the department is unable to handle issues of this magnitude, Sun City leadership must explore alternatives, such as outsourcing facilities maintenance to organizations with proven expertise. For example, Aramark successfully manages facilities maintenance at Baylor University, and SSC oversees maintenance at all Texas A&M campuses. These organizations possess the resources, experience, and track record necessary to address such problems efficiently and effectively.

Residents and prospective homeowners deserve better. Sun City’s reputation as a desirable community is at risk if leadership fails to ensure that facilities are maintained to a high standard. It is strongly recommended that immediate action be taken to resolve the water penetration issues and that outsourcing options be evaluated to prevent similar situations in the future.
