When you’re looking for an active adult community, it can be difficult to find one that has a large variety of recreational activities to help you maintain a healthy lifestyle. If you’re thinking about moving to Tennessee, there are a few 55+ communities that offer a wide range of amenities to help you stay active:

Fairfield Glade – Crossville

Located in Crossville, just an hour and a half from Nashville and Chattanooga, Fairfield Glade is a master-planned community with 12,000 sprawling acres with resort-style amenities and a full activities calendar so residents can enjoy an active lifestyle.

Since this community is so large, residents here have access to multiple amenity centers, the largest of which is the Fairfield Glade Community Center. To stay in shape, the community center is home to a fitness center as well as a gymnasium. Residents can even work up a sweat in their very own indoor basketball and tennis courts. Two indoor pools and saunas round out the inside of this bustling facility.

Outdoors, neighbors can enjoy a game of golf on one of the five championship courses or head to the outdoor tennis courts and pro shop. There are plenty of recreation options with pickleball and shuffleboard courts as well. Boating fanatics will love the boat launch and the eleven fishing lakes available on the grounds, as well as two marinas.

If the community center doesn’t manage to keep you busy, residents at Fairfield Glade also have access to the Dorchester Country Club, complete with clubhouse, 18-hole course, and pro shop. Practice your swing at the golf practice facilities or head to the outdoor tennis courts for a match with friends. After all that, you can cool off with a dip in the outdoor pool or a drink by the patio.

Residents at Fairfield Glade can also enjoy Druid Hills Golf Club, which also features its own 18-hole golf course, practice facilities, and pro shop. Neighbors can gather on the outdoor patio here, or enjoy a game of tennis on the outdoor courts. This club also features an area to play miniature golf.

There are also dozens of clubs and activities offered to the residents of Fairfield Glade. Neighbors here regularly meet for art classes and guided hikes, and popular clubs like master gardeners are common on the social calendar. Events are always going on here from pancake breakfasts to farmers markets to a music and craft beer festival. With so many things to do, residents here are never bored.

Tellico Village – Loudon

Tellico Village is an established master-planned community located in Louden. In this gorgeous lakeside community, there are three recreation centers, three golf courses with their own clubhouses, and a private country club.

Residents of Tellico Village can obtain a membership that provides access to three recreational facilities that are found throughout the community.
