Florida has always been a popular retirement destination because of its sunny weather, sandy beaches, and low taxes that have attracted retirees from across the country. And with so many active adult communities throughout the Sunshine State, retirees have plenty of options to choose from when deciding where to settle down and call home. 55places.com determined the most popular 55+ communities in Florida according to unique pageviews from August 1, 2016 to July 31, 2017. Here are the ten hottest 55+ communities in Florida.


1. The Villages

It’s no surprise to see The Villages in Central Florida in any top list since it’s one of the largest age-restricted communities in the world. From working out at one of the many fitness centers to golfing at one of the three on-site courses, homeowners will never run out of ways to stay active in this vibrant age-restricted development. 3. Sun City Center

Sun City Center is an impressive active adult community in the Tampa Bay area and is home to more than 11,000 residents. This self-contained active adult community provides all of the daily conveniences and necessities retirees could want or need. Sun City Center is home to grocery stores, worship centers, retail shops, and a hospital as well as three campuses that host multiple activity centers and recreational facilities.   2. My wife and I, both retired Canadians who enjoy golf, pickleball, bicycling and card games. We are non smokers, don’t drink and have no pets.
