The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) named Atlanta-based homebuilder Jim Chapman Communities as the Builder of the Year at the 2018 Best of 55+ Housing Awards. The annual award ceremony, which celebrates the achievements of homebuilders who show excellence and innovation in design, development, lifestyle, and marketing for housing targeted to the 55+ crowd, was held during the International Builders’ Show in Orlando, Florida.

Atlanta builder Jim Chapman specializes in active adult housing that features home designs with one-story living and maintenance-free exteriors within age-restricted communities throughout the Atlanta metro area. The builder’s home designs provide retirees and empty nesters ease of living.

Floor plans typically include two or three bedrooms, two or three bathrooms, attached two-car garages, open layouts, wide hallways, spacious kitchens, energy-efficient construction, stylish living spaces, and modern architectural features.

Many of the active adult communities developed by Jim Chapman also provide retirees with privacy, safety, and tranquility. Many of the 55+ communities are small in size, with many having just under 200 homes, and are gated and situated in peaceful surroundings that offer scenic views of natural spaces like lakes, mountains, or nature preserves.

Some of the builder’s active adult communities include Brookhaven of East Cobb in Kennesaw, The Haven at Slater Mill in Douglasville, and The Overlook at Old Atlanta in Suwanee.

The builder also received the Best 55+ For-Sale Community – Up to 200 Homes award for its Sweet Briar Farms community in Woodstock.
