Villages of Citrus Hills invites residents of all ages to enjoy the beauty of living in Hernando, Florida. This impressive community has plans for approximately 10,000 single-family homes in sizes and styles to meet nearly any budget. Highlights include three 18-hole golf courses, multiple clubhouses, swimming pools, sports courts, restaurants and a full-service spa.

Opened in 1982, Villages of Citrus Hills offers luxurious living in several distinct neighborhoods. Each neighborhood has its own appeal with a variety of single-family homes or detached villas. Some are also gated for added security. Yet residents of any neighborhood have access to the amenities offered through all of the Villages of Citrus Hills’ multiple clubhouses.


Although the community does not have an age restriction, the majority of residents are aged 55 or better. They can make use of the resort-style amenities or take part in the varied social events. This includes card games, karaoke nights, lecture series classes, and special-interest clubs. The community’s full social calendar makes it easy for new homebuyers to find friends and get involved in the community.


When it comes to residences, Villages of Citrus Hills includes homes that meet nearly any budget. Detached villas have the added benefit of included exterior maintenance, reflected in their monthly homeowners’ association fees. Single-family homes range in size from 1,500 to over 4,000 square feet. 

While each layout has its own appealing features, many offer open floor plans, gourmet kitchens and spacious master bedroom suites. Each also has an attached garage and a lanai for outdoor living. Home construction began in 1982 and is continuing today, giving homebuyers their choice of available resale or new construction homes. Upon completion, the community is expected to include 10,005 homes.

Villages of Citrus Hills’ clubhouses and activity centers bring residents together with lounge areas, restaurants, hobby and game rooms, and a catering hall for community events. Fitness centers let residents get in shape with cardiovascular and strength-training equipment, or take classes in aerobics and dance studios. Just a few of these classes include cardio-karate, Pilates, tai chi, yoga, and Zumba. There is also a spin studio for those who prefer high-speed cycling, and a full-service spa to rejuvenate after a workout.

Outdoor amenities let residents enjoy the beautiful Florida weather in a number of ways. Outdoor pools are the perfect place to swim and sunbathe, while sports courts provide an outlet for activity and friendly competition.

Resident golfers can also appreciate Villages of Citrus Hills three 18-hole golf courses. Each of these championship courses have their own appealing features. Skyview offers rolling hillsides and elevations up to 250 feet above sea level. The Oaks winds amid Florida’s great oak trees, and The Meadows offers the beauty of wide open spaces.
