As one of the Southeast’s most popular retirement locations, Myrtle Beach has garnered a lot of attention from the 55+ crowd—and all for good reason. Between the town’s beautiful coastal setting, mild year-round temperatures, and the major South Carolina tax incentives for retirees, there are plenty of reasons to hold Myrtle Beach in such high regard.
Oh, and let’s not forget the virtually unlimited amount of championship golf courses in the area. But, just because the popular beach town has a lot to offer residents, doesn’t mean that there aren’t affordable housing options to choose from.
We’ve highlighted four active adult communities in Myrtle Beach that currently have price ranges starting under $250k.
Mid $200s - High $300s
This newly constructed community features a combination of attached and single-family homes that were built by Chesapeake Homes. Bridgewater has several homes on the market at a great value with prices starting as low as the mid $200s. Once completed the expansive 540-acre property will have a total of 1,550 homes as well as many enviable homesites that boast picturesque lake views.
With 11 floor plans available, potential residents will have plenty of options to choose from when it comes to the look and feel of their new home. The living space in each home will range from approximately 1,582 to 2,860 square feet. And, while all of the floor plans will differ, they'll each have first-floor master suites, open layouts, and gourmet kitchens.
The community’s final plans also feature a 5,000-square-foot clubhouse, a state-of-the-art fitness center, resort-style pools, a grilling area, and a designated dog park for residents’ four-legged friends.
High $100s - Mid $200s
Woodlake Village has single-family homes ranging from 1,700 to 2,800 square feet with two or three bedrooms, two to two-and-a-half bathrooms, and one- or two-car garages. Amenities include a clubhouse, an outdoor pool, and tennis and shuffleboard courts for staying active. Social options in Woodlake Village include fitness classes, line dancing, potlucks, poker, and trips off-site to wineries or even cruises. Homeowners are just minutes from the beach and never far from Myrtle Beach.
Mid $100s - Low $200s
Offering affordable homes, Myrtle Trace is an established 55+ community in Conway. Active adults can choose from several current listings with prices below $250k, a few even going below $200k. Low-maintenance homes in the community offer two to three bedrooms, two to two-and-a-half bathrooms, and an attached garage.
Amenities include a clubhouse with hobby rooms and a library. Outdoors, residents enjoy the outdoor pool, shuffleboard courts, bocce ball courts, and horseshoe pits. Myrtle Trace's location means homeowners are a quick drive from Myrtle Beach and all the fun the city brings.
Low $100s - Mid $100s
Another 55+ community in Conway, Lakeside Crossing is a bit larger with just under 700 homes. Homes come in four floor plans ranging from 1,397 to 1,907 square feet with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and one- or two-car garages.
The community has two separate amenity centers: one for being social and one for staying in shape. The clubhouse has a pub, a library, a game room, and tennis and shuffleboard courts outdoors.
