Mercer County is called the “Capital County” of New Jersey since the state capital of Trenton is located here. However, this county is not all about the politics, it also is a hub for culture, historic districts, rolling hills, and majestic wooded acres. It reaps the benefits of being close to both Philadelphia and New York and has outstanding transportation infrastructure to get you there. Major highways include US Route 1, the New Jersey Turnpike, and Interstates 95, 195, and 295. There is also a light rail system and a commuter rail system. 

Some of the nation’s top colleges and universities are in Mercer County, including Princeton University, Rutgers University, and The College of New Jersey. But playtime is just as important, there are four public golf courses, wildlife habitats like Assunpink Wildlife Management Area, and Washington Crossing State Park, which crosses over the Jersey border into Pennsylvania. There are endless opportunities for high-end or discount shopping, too. Villages at Hamilton – Hamilton Township

The single families range from 1,349 to 1,900 square feet with two to three bedrooms, two or two-and-a-half baths, and an attached one-car garage. Upgrades include first-floor master bedrooms and elevated ceilings. The community clubhouse has a fitness center, activity rooms, an outdoor pool, tennis, bocce, a putting green, and nature trails.

Enchantment at Hightstown – Hightstown

Enchantment at Hightstown is designed for active adults who appreciate smaller neighborhoods, access to the finer things in life, and the ability to hop right onto Interstate 95 when they are in the mood to travel.

This intimate community of 73 single-family homes was built from 2007 to 2010 by Robertson Douglas Group with five spacious floor plans ranging from 2,412 to 2,700 square feet. They have two or three bedrooms and bathrooms as well as attached two-car garages. Some homes have dens, gourmet kitchens, hardwood floors, fireplaces, and first-floor master suites. The exclusive clubhouse has a business center, a fitness center, a library, and an outdoor pool. Additional amenities include a tennis court, bocce, a pond, and nature trails.

Riviera at East Windsor – East Windsor

High $300s – High $400s

Riviera at East Windsor is a gated, active adult community of 375 single-family homes built from 2004 to 2010 about eight miles from Princeton University. These upscale residences are generously sized among eight floor plans ranging from 1,684 to 2,572 square feet.

They feature two to three bedrooms and baths as well as attached two-car garages. Some models include dens, gourmet kitchens, libraries, sunrooms, and master suites with Jacuzzis. The clubhouse is a 12,000 square-foot facility that has a modern fitness center, an indoor pool, a steam room, a library, activity rooms, and an arts & crafts studio.
