Mirabella, a 55+ community in Bradenton, Florida has just received the LEED for Homes Platinum certification.

Mirabella, a 55+ community in Bradenton, FL, has received the LEED for Homes Platinum certification. This prestigious certification makes Mirabella a prominent green community in Florida that is setting new standards in the homebuilding industry with their sustainability practices and energy-efficient designs. The certification process was conducted by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), which is an independent party that provides verification, inspections, and metrics of green features in homes or communities.

“Mirabella is setting a new standard for energy efficiency in residential development that is challenging the status quo,” said Dennis Stroer, owner of Calcs-Plus, which analyzed Mirabella’s green features for the USGBC’s LEED for Homes program. “We don’t know of any other residential developments in Florida that offer LEED Platinum certified homes on this scale.”

In order to receive LEED certification, each home must earn points in five green design categories: sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, and indoor environmental quality. The number of points accrued from these categories determines which of the four levels of LEED certification has been reached: Certified, Silver, Gold, or Platinum. Mirabella has earned the highest certification level, Platinum, acknowledging it as a unique and healthy environment for active adults.

LEED-certified homes provide clean indoor air, are built with safe materials, use less energy and water, and have lower utility bills each month. Retirees living on a fixed income benefit from owning a green home in Mirabella because they not only save money on bills each month but they also enjoy long-term financial benefits like tax breaks, zoning allowances, and increased property values. Mirabella’s homes are also ENERGY STAR and HERS certified, which provide even more cost-saving, energy-efficient advantages for active adult homebuyers.

In addition to the green features of these beautiful paired villas, Mirabella’s 160-home community provides residents with resort-style amenities, a vibrant social atmosphere, and a welcoming environment. Active adult homebuyers will love the sustainability and green practices that make Mirabella a prestigious 55+ development in Bradenton, Florida.
