Across the country, active adult home builders have been busy developing new construction 55+ communities in order to meet the growing demand of the Baby Boomer market. Popular builders like Del Webb and GL Homes plan to offer innovative floor plans and low-maintenance homes along with world-class amenities and an exciting social environment that caters to the active adult lifestyle. Retirees will also love the prime location of these active adult communities, making them retirement hotspots near vibrant entertainment options and attractions.

Although these age-restricted communities are in the beginning stages of development, preliminary information has been released and early interest from buyers is on the rise. Active adults searching for new 55+ communities should check out these five exciting coming soon communities.

1. Terramor – Corona, CA

Located within the master-planned community of Terramor in Southern California’s Temescal Valley, this active adult community will feature two distinct 55+ neighborhoods named Ardena and Cortina. Del Webb will build a total of 480 single-family homes within these age-restricted developments. The Ardena neighborhood will offer three unique floor plans that range in size from 1,579 to 1,865 square feet and the Cortina section will offer three floor plans that range in size from 1,999 to 2,172 square feet. All homes will feature spacious layouts, inviting living areas, luxurious fixtures, and beautiful master suites.

Del Webb plans to offer exclusive amenities to its 55+ residents with a proposed 20,000 square-foot clubhouse called The Terrace Club. Some of the amenities will include a gym and wellness center, indoor pool, arts and crafts studio, outdoor pool and spa, multiple sports courts, 540 acres of open space, and 22 acres of parks. In addition to these private world-class amenities, residents will also have access to the master-planned recreational facilities at The Veranda Club.

2. Del Webb Wilmington – Wilmington, NC

This active adult community will be Del Webb’s first age-restricted development in Wilmington, NC and will be situated within the master-planned development of RiverLights. The 547-home community will feature a rich lineup of amenities for its 55+ residents including a proposed 15,000 square-foot clubhouse, which will host numerous social and recreational spaces.

Residents will have access to a fitness center, indoor and outdoor pool, multi-purpose room, event lawn, and miles of walking and biking trails as well as multiple sports courts for tennis, pickleball, and bocce ball. Homeowners will also have access to all of the amenities found within RiverLights that will enhance their active and social lifestyle.

Del Webb’s innovative home designs will be offered in three distinct collections: Passport Series, Expedition Series, and Pinnacle Series. Each collection comes with different styles, sizes, and price points, ensuring that buyers find the perfect low-maintenance home that suits their needs. Single-family homes range in size from 1,262 to 2,565 square feet with at least two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and an attached two or two-and-a-half-car garage.

Del Webb Wilmington’s prime location within Coastal North Carolina puts residents just minutes from the downtown area as well as great attractions and entertainment like Cape Fear River, Carolina Beach State Park, Pine Valley Country Club, and Masonboro Island Reserve.

3. Valencia Bonita – Bonita Springs, FL

GL Homes plans to start construction and sales for its newest 55+ community, Valencia Bonita, in the Spring of 2017. Valencia Bonita will host 997 luxurious homes spread across 347 acres of lush landscaping. Although final floor plans have yet to be released, GL Homes will offer 20 stunning single-family floor plans. Buyers can rest assured knowing that their homes will be built with modern conveniences, functional designs, and low-maintenance exteriors, which is part of the Valencia signature brand.

All homes will enjoy waterfront, garden, or preserve views as well as come with standard features like covered and screened patios, elegant master suites, walk-in closets, and spacious layouts. In addition to spectacular home designs, Valencia Bonita will have a 45,000 square-foot waterfront clubhouse.

The clubhouse will feature world-class amenities like a grand ballroom, fitness center, card room, billiards, cooking studio, and tennis pro shop. Outdoors, the amenities will include multiple swimming pools, indoor/outdoor café and bar, and sports courts.

This active adult community’s central location along Florida’s Gulf Coast provides residents with easy access to Naples and Fort Myers as well as nearby conveniences and attractions such as scenic beaches, golf courses, restaurants, retail shops, medical centers, and Southwest International Airport.
