We’ve compiled this list of active adult communities based on our 100 Most Popular Communities list, with priority given to the communities that made the 55 Best 55+ Communities for 2016.

1. On Top of the World – Ocala, FL

As one of Florida’s largest 55+ communities, it’s no surprise to see On Top of the World making our best-value list once again. This 10,000-home development provides endless options for socializing, physical activity, and outdoor recreation thanks to its four amenity centers. And with more than 200 clubs that cater to every interest, Baby Boomers are sure to find a hobby, club, or activity to occupy their time throughout retirement. The best part of this lavish active adult community is that homebuyers can find a variety of charming homes at reasonable prices, some of which start under $100,000.

2. Sun City West, AZ

Central Arizona’s Sun City West is a marvelous active adult community that was built by Del Webb between 1978 and 1997. This age-restricted neighborhood continues to be popular among 55+ homebuyers because of its affordable homes, resort-style amenities, and nine golf courses. Outdoor recreation is essential in the daily lives of residents in Sun City West. Here, they have access to numerous tennis, bocce ball, pickleball, and shuffleboard courts scattered across the complex as well as a softball field, lawn bowling, volleyball and basketball courts, walking trails, and dog parks.

3. Sun Lakes Country Club – Banning, CA

Active adult homebuyers may be surprised to find reasonably priced homes in this beautiful 55+ community in Southern California. Sun Lakes Country Club consists of 3,300 residences that were built by Pulte Homes between 1987 and 2003. Baby Boomers can find a variety of condos and single-family homes with pricing starting in the mid $100s.
