Builder David Weekley Homes received approval by the Marietta city council last week to develop a new 40-home age-targeted community in the area.
Although hundreds of residents of Marietta, Georgia, opposed the building of this new subdivision because of rezoning, traffic, and safety concerns. Councilwoman Michelle Cooper Kelley and councilmen Stuart Fleming, Philip Goldsteain, Andy Morris, and Ruben Sands voted in favor of the new development. Kevin Moore, attorney for David Weekley Homes, stated that the new subdivision would be targeted towards senior citizens, which would lessen the impact on traffic. The subdivision will be situated on just 14.5 acres and will be located at 838 and 848 Powder Springs Street in Marietta.
