In 2004, the non-age restricted community of Prescott Lakes sprouted up near the charming historic town of Prescott, Arizona. The community enhanced the area by developing a garden-like setting and lush golf course. Residents enjoy magnificent views of the surrounding Granite Dells and many small lakes. SunCor constructed Prescott Lakes as two adjacent neighborhoods, consisting of the non-gated Lakeside neighborhood and the gated Brookside neighborhood. Upon completion, the community will include 396 homes.
“The views are to die for,” said realtor David Sommer, who was the president of the Prescott Chamber of Commerce for eight years. “The city of Prescott has consistently been rated as one of the top ten places to retire.”
Prescott Lakes Golf Club winds through the community and includes contoured holes and water features. The challenging 18-hole course was designed by PGA Hall-of-Famer Hale Irwin. Members and their guests have exclusive access to the course.
Buyers also have the convenience of choosing from three or four bedroom single-family homes ranging in size from 1,709 to 3,080 square feet. Ten floor plans are offered at Prescott Lakes, which include a variety of attractive features such as granite countertops, European beech cabinets, gourmet kitchens, energy efficient appliances, and porches or patios. Cooling features include a concrete tile roof and tile floors in the foyer, kitchen, bathrooms, and laundry room. Additionally offered are extra bedrooms, three-car garages, fireplaces, and walk-out basements.
While Prescott Lakes is open to residents of all ages, the activities director has developed a tried-and-true roster of social clubs, games, and activities that will appeal to mature adults. The 12,000-square-foot clubhouse may be the place for crafts, swimming, or exercise, but many residents just visit to enjoy reading a good book in front of the grand river rock fireplace. The clubhouse contains a state-of-the-art fitness center, which features high-end cardiovascular and weight training equipment. Also available are tennis courts, a basketball court, and a sand volleyball court.
Often, active adults can be seen enjoying a stroll or bike ride along the tranquil paths in the neighborhood. For nature lovers, there is an outdoor heated pool and a spa, both of which are available in the summer. Due to its 5,300-foot elevation, temperatures rarely match those of Phoenix.
With 300 days of sunshine each year, energetic residents can hike the nearby Granite Dells, watching for the pronghorn antelope. Watson Lake is also just 10 miles away and features the popular Riparian Preserve. Nearby Lynx and Goldwater Lakes are great for fishing, canoeing, or kayaking. Within two miles of the community are retail stores, a pharmacy, a bookstore, and a restaurant.
Prescott Lakes is a great place for active healthy adults to live because of the easy access to divergent activities. They do not have to leave their neighborhood to enjoy multiple clubhouse programs and healthy activities set against views of magnificent peaks. Travel-minded adults need only drive 90 miles to enjoy city life in Phoenix or take their family on a day trip to see the Grand Canyon.
